It's true, but honestly, that was exaggerated by the media slightly IMO, it was a huge security flaw, but it had been in there for years, and it got fixed very quickly after it was found. OpenSSL is open source, I'm really surprised that it wasn't found sooner. It also didn't affect every site like the media made out, for example my site was totally unaffected, due to a different version of OpenSSL being used. All in all, it was a good thing that the media talked about it, as it got people to change passwords, but, they were talking about it as a new thing, when it really wasn't.
OK lets put it another way. Someone without the internet, but knows someone who does, forgets to ring the club to ask about ticket prices. They go down to buy a ticket and find out it's cheaper on the internet. So they leave the club without paying any money. They then have to get in touch with their internet friend and (has been pointed out) have to pick the ticket up from the club. So there has to be someone at the club to dish the tickets out anyway. What's the difference between picking a ticket up which you have already paid for and picking a ticket up and paying for it?

You're right. I don't think the Club considered that scenario, when they decided to offer a discount for online sales. Being attacked by a triffid on the way to the box office is another.
Ha bloody ha. You haven't really answered why it's still not a good reason to give everyone the same price. You still need to pick your ticket up from the box office. There could be thousands of people on the day doing that in your scenario, oh and when they attacked by the triffid then they won't be able to pick there ticket up and then can't go. They've then been to Oakwell twice, still not got a ticket and still can't go to the game.
Good price also kids a quid u 12 gna take lil en if she likes it take colcheater if not a know not to bother and only a quid good offer imo
At the moment yes but thats because the movement to online has to come before reduction in physical box office. If via lower charhes the club convinces people to buy online then they can in the future cut staff in the box office. At the moment there can be up to 4 people in there but if enough people move to online they could potentially reduce that to 1 person. They can also significantly reduce the space needed and possibly just take sales in the club shop lotteries office or reception which would offer savinfs on lighting heating and allow the space to be used for something else
I think the club are doing this to get people used to buying online and printing at home. This has just reminded me, I was going to email Ben and see if there was any way the club could put machines in town (like in the Alhambra) where people could buy and print tickets, although I suppose they would be relying on whatever technology ticketmaster have, can't be that hard to do though.
I agree also. Those Facebook comments are right in what they are saying. Penalising a group of fans because they don't have internet access isn't good.
So basically we are attempting to save a few quid by sacking some local employee who is probably not paid much more than the minimum wage while paying footballers massively inflated wages at the same time not caring if we alienate potential fans. Welcome to the community club...and we are hopibg to achieve this by targeting a match against Burton to convince the masses. Seems very likely to be successful. ..
If you don't have the internet in 2014 then a cant speyk. Even my 86 year old Nan has the internet and uses it all the time. Especially ebay. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Only pillockin mate. Honestly, it's a discounted incentive for using the online channel. The Club are obviously just trying to push online sales in general. Personally, i'm glad they are. I don't want to trail down to the Club to pick a ticket up. I want to press some buttons and sort it from the comfort of my settee, in seconds. Being able to do that AND get the ticket cheaper, works just fine for me. We're in the internet age i'm afraid. I'm sorry, but I find the prospect of someone wanting to go the game and not having internet, or not knowing someone who does, very slim. And 'what if' scenarios just don't apply to ticket pricing models. That's just tough luck i'm afraid.
No, I do direct debits, and withdrawals from cash points and I've stuck it in a pay at the pump once in an emergency and that's it, no online shopping or chip and pin, I don't earn enough money to be risking what I do have. I wouldn't sleep at night if I used it willy nilly like you lot do, paying for things with you're mobile phone now a days, that to me is just asking for your phone nicking, like Del Boy Trotter I'm a strictly reddies man myself a lot safer
blimey. ok. it's cool that you accept you'll just have to pay more for your stuff though. fair enough
I've signed up to Mapplewell library today for free. Used the Internet for free. 10p for a printout. Me n son doing his homework. As my printer is fooked. even the offer of a free Internet lesson from the staff! I must look clueless! There's little/no excuse for not having we access. Pay your council tax, use the benefits. I've been critical of the pricing structure regarding kids tickets recently. But I have to congratulate the club. I've never bought an online ticket before at t'Well. Wasn't going before to Burton match. Now me n my lad are attending. Well played. That said I still never want a cash option to disappear.
