Could you take ball away from him if we won a penalty though?

Quick free kicks to no one

4 out of 5 corners not beating the first man. Passing the ball backwards to either keeper or defenders being closed down. Not tracking back. Weak in the tackle. Just some of the things he needs to work on. 1 goal and 6 assists over 4 games doesnt make him ready for the Premiership. He should be thriving as the manager has not only made him captain but also filled the midfield with players who graft and are instructed to get the ball to him. It sounds like Im having a go, but Im not, simply pointing out that he's done ok and will hopefully continue to improve but lets not get carried away and make out he's the finished article, ready for the Prem nor that our team/success revolves around him.

I'm not arguing that he's ready for the premiership

I'm arguing that he's a damn good player for us and people just don't appreciate how good he is.

    Completely agree.

Having watched the game back on Sky when I got home I thought he looked a little nervous first half and rushed a number of quick free kicks. But he still created both goals and should have had a penalty. Second half he was poor but so was the rest of the team against a vastly experienced Ipswich midfield who noticably grew in confidence.

Quality player with a great future, hope its with us but if not best of luck lad

When Nasri was creating everything last year for Arsenal I wonder if their internet boards were full of people slagging him off because he couldn't tackle.

And I can imagine the Real Madrid fans are well ****** off with Ronaldo because he doesn't get back and put his foot in.

And that Glavin player that we used to have was *****. Never put a shift in. Hignett too.

And the fact is that Butterfield can tackle better than all those put together.

And no, I'm not saying he's as good as any of them.

"I'd love to go on and play in the Champions League and for England."

its those kind of comments that make people scrutinise performances a bit closer, and I know its stupid and naive to mention the word 'loyalty' in football, but after doing nowt much for 3 or 4 seasons, he's been offered a much improved contract on the basis of a decent half season, so the clubs doing its bit, as fans you want your captain to lead by example not "Im keeping my options open".

Then again, we need a reality check apparently, maybe the fact we only get 9000 bums on seats means its inevitable that our better players have to be sold so I should shut me gob.

To be fair Vaz Te looked up for the quick free kick but then seemed to change his mind. Sometimes the players are on the same wavelength others they are not its the same playing the ball inside the full back for the winger looks crap when it doesn`t come off but great when it does. For me it just shows that he is trying to make something happen and catch the opposition napping at times we are asleep too.

Re: The main reason he's attracted criticism

3 or 4 below par performances? I must have missed them. Except for the 2nd half on Sat he has been doing ok. Maybe not at his brilliant best, but certainly not bad enough to attract the criticism he has.

    Re: Is his hair ?

I've been in contact with Peter Tatchell and asked him for his opinion on these tweets. Peter was kind enough to furnish us with the following quote:

"Both Stonewall and the Terence Higgins Trust have been impressed with Jacob's performances this season, and we particularly enjoyed his blockbusting effort at Peterborough. Only last week I was at an S&M party in Mayfair and a 6 ft 7 transexual commented to me on Jacob's range of passing and two-footedness. We in no way endorse the comments of "chezthelez".

    So there you go.
