Hmm, well I thought it said working,,,, but it’s very commendable that you enquire on behalf of your friend. It reminded me of the time I asked a nurse about a dose of crabs my friend had contracted.
I had a really bad ache in my achilles tendon for about six weeks before first lockdown. It was during and after any form of intensity exercise and I tried to work through it. Eventually I consulted a friend of mine who is a podiatrist who advised me that it was from over exercise and if I was to carry on it would more than likely result in a tear or even worse a full rupture of the tendon. The treatment was to completely stop excercising for a period of eight weeks, a short course of laser treatment and some tendon strengthening exercises with a resistance band. I was told not to do 'heel drops' as whilst they stretch tendon they also weaken it. I followed the instructions and after eight weeks I started walking a bit then resumed jogging and finally when the classes restarted at the gym, full on high intensity traing such as body attack and Grit. Haven't had any problem since treatment.
Definitely sounds like a tendon issue from overuse. Lots of people reporting similar issues during lockdown, usually due to a sudden increase in running in a short space of time. Glad your on the mend
This thread had me panicked that we’d picked up an injury. Sorry for being relieved it’s only you with the injury!
