And surprise, surprise - all the usual "PC Brigade" and "positive discrimination" accusations come flying out without at any point thinking that maybe - just maybe - they have a point. Maybe potential black managers - those who would actually be "best person for the job" - are getting discriminated against because of their colour? Maybe they don't even consider becoming managers because they know they don't stand a chance of getting a job? Two 'black' managers in the entire 92 club league set up, where around a quarter of the playing staff are black, would indicate that there's some kind of issue. Nobody asks how the likes of Bryan Robson managed to keep getting high profile top league management jobs despite a series of failures while the likes of Paul Ince gets one shot at a higher league club then is cast back down to the lower leagues.

There remains institutional racism in football, from board level through the teams and into the fan base. Personally, I don't think positive discrimination is the answer, but that doesn't stop there being a problem in the first place.

Good point - Bryan Robson should only be allowed to manage Leeds or the 2 Sheffield clubs.

There's no prejudice in football anyway......

Rightly or wrongly the only way to resolve this issue is by having a policy of positive discrimination.

Don't see how mate. The policy they're talking about is to 'interview'. Doesn't mean they'll get the job. If anything, it'll make it worse for the candidate as they'll inevitably believe they got that far through sheer tokenism.

Well said mate. The original "Rooney's Law" came about in the US in NFL because despite a high proportion of black players they weren't getting the opportunities in coaching. This has been deemed a success as now there are many very successful black head coaches.
For years in the NFL there was an issue about the lack of black Quarterbacks - the lynchpin of any team, which you'll know if you watch the sport, yet there were plenty of black players in other positions. There was an institutional racism that basically said that black players weren't capable of playing the position because of the knowledge required.....now there are plenty of black QB's.
