I hope they do well, really, if for nowt else the good of the club and to keep us in this league.... but lets not forget the one win in 16. Its the same players they're taking on. So I am not expecting miracles, I'm just in a ... lets see what happens frame of mind... We really need a win on Tuesday, not even a draw will do. So lets see how they do, how they set up. It will be interesting how the players respond, am sure 99% of the fans will be up for it.
I d It was a great call,Very positive after some of the negative possibly racist callers previously. Hope you will keep phoning up the show. L
Ideal first game for them, and also Mcburnie will be chomping at the bit to add to his goal against Wednesday. Well overdue a home win as well. Really looking forward to Tuesday now.
According to early reports re- training etc, the appointments of Jose and Joao have created a real buzz among the players and they are looking forward to learning and playing for them. With them also being multi-lingual is also a big advantage and augurs well for the future. Let's hope the squad all fired up and ready to go at 19-45 pm next Tuesday night.
Got to admit, I’m buzzing about this coaching team, we were only going down with PH but this appointment has given me real optimism. Really hoping we get a convincing win against burton to kick start a rise up the table.
I think will find an overwhelming majority of ‘us’ actually voted overwhelmingly in favour of Brexit and support its implementation. Some of ‘us’ remember that it was the Tories who stole our milk, gave Jimmy Saville a Knighthood and assaulted proud working men at Orgreave. As for Capitalism ... you would have to persuade me that hoarding private capital/wealth offshore and failing to invest in public services is a winning system. I will try to keep an open mind on that one. ‘We’ are still a proud, warm and friendly town, with a cracking sense of humour. No hard luck stories here. Never cowed. Ready for our day in the sun again.
I don't disagree with that, I said "a fair few" not all. I spent Xmas/New year in the UK and re-visited Barnsley more than once over that period. Many people (particularly most of the market traders who have been there for years ) still have that spark of Barnsley humour and friendliness that made the town a great place to be. It's just like I said though, there are, understandably, quite few who are suspicious of , and veer towards resisting change. Too many though IMO (and that is all it is - my opinion) dwell on the past instead of looking forward to the future. There is no doubt that Barnsley, South Yorkshire and the Industrial North was decimated in the Thatcher years but some still have not moved on. Pessimism and negativity for them seems to be a 'default setting' (as someone has already said). I am NOT running the town down, even as an 'outsider' I lived in Barnsley for nigh on 40 years on and off and have a strong affinity towards the town. Yes, it does still have a lot to offer.
I’m not accusing you of running our town down, but remembering the past is not the same as dwelling in it. As for looking to the future, and moving on, perhaps that could be aimed at the Tory Westminster Politicians who take great delight with the continued bashing of our Town and it’s like.
