We have so many good players collins, helik, anderson, styles, brittain, morris, woodrow but we ha e only managed 2 wins all season says alot about the head coaches and style of play imo
Brittain was awful at the start of the season but now he's just about our best performer. The worst thing to be said is that he's inconsistent. The best thing to be said is that he had to learn to play passing football again this season. And now he has. Why would those named teams want him if he was only League 1 standard? If we have to play possession football because the coach does, he's one of them who is good enough to do it to this league's standard.
Just saw this on my news feed on Google, then came on here. Honestly don’t understand why loads of Barnsley fans wouldn’t mind seeing him go? He was very good last season and not as consistent this season… but none of our players have. He has a potential to be brilliant and will be great loss. My mates a Blackburn fan, and was absolutely raving about him for weeks after the Blackburn game. Hopefully we hold out…
One of our better players even if he’s not reached last seasons heights. Would pretty much be white flag time if we let him go.
So if you know he can play at a higher standard than him & his team mates are currently performing at then would it not better to keep him & others whose game has suffered & solve the root problem instead ? do not get rid of the better players get rid of the reason why these players are not performing, it could be the system, the current Hc , the fitness levels , it could be a number of reasons but one reason it is not is ability because he has proved in the past that he has got it ., we need to keep our better players.
Depends on what incomings there are. Personally, if I was given the choice of keeping the same first 11 as we have now, or selling Brittain and bringing in a midfielder or two, maybe on loan, and playing Williams at RB, i'd take it. (Doubt the incomings will materialise though).
Thats the worrying thing prices are always higher in the january window, we are going to struggle to attract players for a relegation battle, no players are going to want the usuall clause were wages drop upon relegation. I expect out goings and little incomings.
I don't think Williams is anything like as talented as Brittain, and I have no confidence that money raised by selling Brittain would be spent on decent players.
There's virtually no chance that any experienced players who could improve the team could be persuaded to join a club which looks doomed to relegation.
Possibly a loan but are the owners going to want to shell out money towards wages of a loan. I think this window will be more sell and get some money in maybe bring a transfer in for league one. Like i said in my other posts them are the reasons i think we will be mostly selling. January is always a sellers market.
