    Thanks MerdeT (& Redrum) for your thoughts.
    Can't disagree with anything you've said & my opinion carries little weight since Callum doesn't want to play left wing back (as he's said recently, he's happy covering the position but wants the midfield role).
    It'll be interesting to see how it goes, since he's held his own in midfield with quality players around him - unlike Kane (say), his instinct is to drive forward ...with a bit of pass & move in the Liverpool groove with Szoboszlai :D
    So to summarise, I believe Callum's drive for international football has been dominant & playing at Championship level is part of that. His focus right now is, as he says, "to get as many minutes as he can in the Euros" & I hope it goes well for him.

    Who was the last / has there ever been a contracted Barnsley player at a major tournament? Eric Tinkler springs to mind maybe? Was Styles playing for Hungary in last Euros? Don't think Helik did during his time with us? Anyone obvious I've forgotten?

    He only started 6 games in 2019-20 - Struber's season, another 12 as sub.

    Val never played him in midfield.

    Hence why I said he was sub playing second fiddle to ritzmair. Maybe I should have said 17 appearances in the championship. Picked up on a stats site.
    As sub. Fans were calling for him to start games sooner than he did. Ritzmair imo couldn't lace his boots. Your opinion may differ.
    Re 20/21 My bad. He started the next season in midfield. B4 val arrived. As Ludewig was recalled to his parent club. William's on the other side.

    Was he actually that good or was he just a decent cog in a good team for a season? He had Mads Anderson behind him, Alex Mowatt at the side of him & Carlton Morris ahead of him. That’s a lot of talent next to him on the pitch. They could make most players look good.

    When you've been playing for a poor Championship team after recovering from an operation, really hard to command a start but expect him to get 30mins or more ... it's a friendly & will be keen to give him a run out.
    Enjoyed reading this article on how much it means to Callum & wish him nothing but the best when he comes on.

    :) can't wait for the Euros tbh. I've more interest in it than most club football. You can't buy success at international level.
