Fcking hell, there's actually some decent debate in this thread rather than the usual "Tory = Bad, Labour = Good" diatribe.

It's probably all largely irrelevant as when the disaffected Lib Dem votes migrate to Labour and the Conservatives lose marginal seats to UKIP, we can anoint Ed and Ed as the worst No. 10 team since, er, the last lot.

It will be paid for by ripping every safety net in the welfare system out, local government is dead, every service in next 3 years will be 'out sourced' (privatised), its back to the 1930's , and New Labour are doing nothing to prevent it in fact they seem to be embracing it . Towns like Barnsley have no future as the worm hole of the South East suck in every last resource the country has . You only have to look at cities like Detroit in the States to see our future ,bankrupt poverty stricken hovels abandoned by the political elite

Raising the personal allowance to £12,500 does nothing for the increasingly large army of people who don’t earn enough to pay income tax. The budget deficit has been higher in the first five months of the current financial year than in the same period of 2013-14 because the economy is proving exceptionally good at creating no hours jobs.

But for those higher up the income scale, the tax cuts do make a difference. Indeed, the more you earn the more you benefit. Both the IFS and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation made the point that targeting help on those on the lowest incomes would require more generous tax credits or an economy capable of generating more jobs that are secure and well paid.

According to the IFS, basic rate (20%) taxpayers would be £160 a year better off as a result of the increase in the personal allowance. Those in the 40% tax bracket benefit by £430 a year. Comparisons showing that basic rate taxpayers would be £500 better off as a result of Cameron’s pledge are misleading. They do not take into account the raising of the personal allowance to £10,500 next April and further increases over the following five years to keep pace with inflation. By 2020 the personal allowance would be £11,620 if uprated to take account of the increase in the cost of living.

I pay the higher rate of tax and so I should, I earn more than those that don't. But I work f**king hard for that wage.

I'm proud to be part of a system that supports the needy and I'm proud that I make some, small contribution towards that every month.

Currently, there is no satisfying political party or solution to our social ills and until a better person or persons than me starts thinking incredibly creatively we will be stuck with the same political system and tiered approach to society.

I'm not preaching political revolution but a bit of evolution wouldn't go amiss.

Scary prospect. Struggling to find any argument that suggests you might be wrong. The only thing I can think of is that the UK is much smaller than the US where cities really can become isolated. It's difficult for that to happen here. But being saved by geography isn't particularly very comforting.

I get that idea from all the Bankers paying themselves millions in bonuses,I get that idea from boardroom bosses salaries rising by 130% plus during the recession. I get that idea from global company's paying Zero hour contracts and minimum wage whilst making billions in profits and avoiding taxes.
All this and Camereons response in his speech to them was quote "you will lose the trust of the British People" big fekin deal Dave. You make sure anyone on minimum wage doesnt claim too much tax credits and threaten them with gaol .Tory *******s

To be honest, the job I do is the opposite to the detriment of the lowest of the low- I teach in an incredibly deprived area and I'm proud to say I make a difference to those others would consider 'lowest of the low'

It wasn't a criticism I was just making comment relevant to your post and that poorly paid people also have to work hard to earn their poverty.
By lowest of the low it wasn't a slur at any area or lifestyle it was purely earning related.

You have nothing to apologise for at all different people interpret posts as they think they are meant.its not like sitting in person where you can more or less get your point of view over in a way that is not deemed ffensive.
