Actually, just looking back, it's a quote from the letter rather than a comment, so potentially a leaked document as you say.

    I stand corrected.

Isn't the quote the actual letter? He hasn't spoken to The Athletic. At least that's how I've interpreted it.

It's a leak by someone but unlikely to be us given negative PR likely to surround it.

I would slightly disagree with you here YT. They may be better, but there are still issues.

Firstly, there is no promotion / relegation over here, so that is never a worry. However, taking baseball as an example, they have a salary cap, but punishments don't hurt the teams.

Taking the NY Yankees as an example. They would blow their salary cap on an annual basis, trying to win the World Series. If they won, or failed, it was just a financial penalty, which does not really hurt them, especially if they win. A few dollars in fines for teams which sign players to 6-year, $300+ million contracts is no deterrent. With no relegation, there is also no deterrent.

I would like to see teams over here starting the following season with a negative value in the Win column. That, at least, is some form of punishment.

This enrages me more than the EFL been pathetic and doing Sweet FA (pardon the pun).

I'd rather see everyone punished for irregularities, obviously, but I'd rather see no one punished, than selective punishments.

    Conspiracy Theory:
Conway told Khaled to write the letter then threw him under the bus by having it "leaked" thus distancing himself from any direct fall-out if it goes t*ts-up!

Can't be arsed to read the thread but I bet we're after £7m compo to cover the cost of relegation!!

A player they can’t afford, who just happened to be injured during the January Transfer Window, picks up the Championship Player of the Month award for February.

Yep, they've found the necessary loopholes in the conditions that the EFL set them, and are still able to have some of the players that they could never afford to help them out of trouble.

Almost like the system is unfair.

13 players out of contract this Summer so will be interesting to see their approach.

Out since August TBF, suggests his injury was genuine
