Its the fans fault. Too much aggro last open day by the cocnut shy means we cant play celtic.

 

But then he said he always wanted it to be Mansfield in a later interview. So looks like he changed his mind

Bobby wanted a group of ex players but Lee Johnson was having none of it.

Is oakwell only allowed to host 90 minutes of football a week? Why not have a double header? Bobby's testimonial at 3pm followed by the current team in a friendly at 5pm? Same price, double the entertainment for fans and double the chance for the club to earn money through refreshment sales (even if that is from an increase in rent for next year due to the higher sales meaning a higher value on the contract).

But no. The ONLY option is a game with bobby playing with players he doesn't know.

You can't be expecting a professional football club to be so forward thinking. Our legend wants to raise as much money as possible for a fantastic cause and we give him as his opponent......Mansfield Town.....He deserved a big club that would pack out the crowd and raise much more money. He can say he wanted Mansfield but it's hard to believe.

 

I thought the testimonial committee picked the opponents,the golf days etc.

 

I'd probably get banned if I said what I wanted to, so I'll just leave this here instead...

 

Be about 4000 tops I reckon - slightly more interesting the fact that some former players will be involved at the end and maybe Lee Johnson himself.

Personally I feel obligated to go to show my appreciation to probably our most consistent and loyal player in the current and past decade but unfortunately a lot will says "Mansfield?!, chuff that".

 

Personally I can't see what Johnson is hoping to achieve. The atmosphere in the ground will be negative to his players especially when old players come on and show more effort in 5 minutes than his stars have in a season

I'll bet good money that Hemsy will be there and that the vast majority of the outraged Bobby loving set of shisters, who forced him off this forum, won't...they'd find some excuse whoever the oppo.

 

I love Bobby, what's not to like, great ambassador for the club, great work in the community, seemingly a lovely bloke to boot. Already got tickets for it, stick that in your snidey pipe and smoke it.

 

Looking forward to it. A great opportunity to bid a fond farewell to a club legend and thoroughly decent man, who has given back so much to the local community. Also, not only do we get to see our new signings, but some of the Barnsley old boys from the promotion winning team, too.
