All that I'm interested in is that Flicker kept us in the Championship. Luck/team selections/formations - who cares.

 

You seem to have forgotton to quote the bit directly before that where I said TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD. I know that we didn't rely on someone else to keep us up, you know that we didn't, but to the outside world seeing how the matches ended on Saturday it would have appeared that way. In fact I know that to a lot of people it did appear that way because I've had texts from people I know saying exactly that and I've seen forum posts and tweets from others saying that. In fact some on here have said how much we owe to the Palace player who scored. Wrong. We owe them nothing, their goals didn't keep us up. It was our goals that did.

I was saying that to the outside world it may appear like that because I was trying to point out that they only see the table, much like we do when we rate another managers performance in another league. Butcher for example when we went after him. How many Barnsley fans can honestly say that they knew how much effort Butcher put in? What his personality was like? What his relationship with his players and fans was? I bet there aren't more than 2 or 3 of us who can say that they knew that. The rest of us just looked at the table, thought 'blimey he's doing a decent job, we'll have him'. Well thats how others look at our manager too, they look at the table, they don't see videos of him in the dressing room, they don't hear him on radio sheffield, they don't see him signing autographs and posing for photos with young kids before games.

My post was supposed to highlight why we shouldn't be worried about him being poached because they only see a small part of the story, it is us on the inside that see the whole story.

 

The squad when everyone is fit is stronger than last year Flicker had to hit the ground running and did I thought getting to 40 points would be reasonable after losing to fellow strugglers Fowls, Peterborough and Birmingham interesting to see what happens in close season with player movements but the most important thing is the team spirit he has generated and we had a good cup run. Only Wigans achievement in keeping their premiership status would be worthy of comparison.
