Lol, I set the alarms off last summer !

I had no idea what the hell it was and had to have an extra 'frisk darn' by a female security Officer.
I can't tell you what it was that set it off, I'm embarassed
(lol)

Hell, If I thought they would be exploring my body cavities I don't think I'd ever fly again.

Seriously.
I've recently discovered the joys of camping - even go off on my own with the dog in tow.
That would finish me, if they brought those sort of checks in.

Aye - my life revolves around my books - it really does

At least I can curl up with my book now and be oblivious to all else.
If the worst comes to the worst, at least I'll go happy with a book in my hand.

In the long run

All liquids should be banned except for medical things (sealed), contact lens solution which can be bought only from inside the airport and must still be sealed when boarding, and milk for babies which must be tasted first.

Hand luggage should just be things essential for the flight (including books etc) but not clothing for when you get to the other end. That is what the plane's hold is for.

The airport operators should be forced to ensure that they get baggage off of planes and onto the carousel's much quicker than they do at present. If this requires extra equipment then the government should foot the bill, they don't do enough for the transport in this country anyway.

Trains aren't good enough
Bus service isnt good enough (unless you happen to live within a 5 mile radius of downing street)
Service at airports isn't good enough.

RE: Have you tried wearing 2 or 3 sets of clothes to board the plane?

I thought I'd have to wear those long black socks along with my summer clothes.
That would have been embarassing.
I guess we are so used to doing what we do.
We all take our security and rights for granted.
When these rights and national security is called into question, no one likes it.
It does sound selfish to kick off agains these regulations when, they are in place for your own safety, unless of course you start to delve into the many and varied conspiracy theories which will make you consider other things.

RE: Why?

I'm talking about the size of bags....some of the carry on luggage is ridiculous. As you say they should strictly enforce the size.

New York is only 5 hours or so,

have you checked what the in flight movies are?

I flew to LA without the possesing an MP£ player of any kind and the flight flew by due to quality of the in-flight movies and various other things on your in flight console.

A culture change is required.

If it kept air safety & security up to the highest standards Il'd walk feckin naked through security.

If people cannot last for even a long haul flight without a bleedin Ipod or some other piece of brain numbing technology then I despair.

And before you say owt I often take a 7.00am flight out and take only hand luggage so I dont have to wait checking stuff in or wait for baggage when I return but if its deemed necessary to minimse risk then I'll wait like everyone else and check everything in.
