Actually I don't know why I'm asking because, either way, it's not an answer is it?</p>

    But isn't hindsight great?

Did any Reds fans moan when we were after Mifsud? He proved to be surprisingly poor to all of us.

Similarly with Rigters, who carried a decent reputation and yet played like he'd never kicked a ball before.

I don't recall anybody moaning when we signed Mostto and people were posting his goals from South America on here. And he turned out to be the new Georgi Hristov.

So there's three strikers who we were all happy to take and who proved to be rubbish.

On the other side, of course, there are players like Anderson and Colace, who have proved to be cracking signings. And the likes of Foster, JCR and Hassell wouldn't be signing new contracts if they didn't have belief in Davey.

People on here draw conclusions with little knowledge of the truth behind them and as they get repeated so often on here they become so ingrained that people treat them as hard facts. The core of our squad is now better than this time last year, and this time last year the squad was better than the same time the year before.

It's just possible that Patrick Cryne's comments were as much a rallying call for the fans as it was for Davey. Davey seems to be responding, so instead of moaning we should be doing the same, because believe me, if we start the season with a negative attitude we have little hope of success.

football history is littered with examples of managers narrowly avoiding the sack and going on to become successful. If a viable alternative had presented itself, then it was maybe worth considering, but I'm happy with the decision because it gives us chance to maximise the summer transfer window without being held back by recruitment of a n other manager and him gaining familiarity with an under achieving squad. A season can be turned on one or two key signings, if we're shopping for proven Championship quality and learnt the lesson of gambling on unknowns from abroad, then Im optimistic that Davey can get us where we hope to be. Fickle is the operative word, if we start the season well, the swingometer of opinion will turn. If we dont, plenty of time before Xmas to turn a season round.

That's true. But if season ticket sales go down even with the reduction you can bet it will be blamed on the credit crunch and not the football we have put up with in recent seasons.

He hasn't narrowly avoided the sack in my opinion, it wasn't even a consideration. The recent, 'go and win over the fans' and 'meeting to determine future' B*ll*cks were all aimed at placating a growing disenchanted fan base.

They've had a meeting and 'oooooooohhhh, Davey knows where he's gone wrong, for the first time in his always right life'

    I don't buy it myself. We'll be bottom 6 come April 2010.

    Does it need an announcement?

I don't expect myemployers to announce each week that I'm not going to be sacked. I assume, unless told otherwise, I'm in gainful employment.

How close was Rafa last season?

one closer to home: Brian Laws. McCarthy was close last season. And there are others that have had the sack early and gone on to prove themselves elsewhere.

I think there has been an announcement though.

I guess your employers don't announce every week that they're going to have a meeting with you to determine whether they're going to sack you though. Do they?

    Next season we're fûcked

Most difficult Championship since our return.

We'll have to hope another three clubs financially implode because we won't make 50 points unless Wavey invests his £3 million (TV revenue + Birmingham parachute payment) very wisely - if he's given it to spend at all.

David Moyes at Everton when they were teethering with relegation one season. The board kept faith with him> i'm not sure there are many Everton fans complaining now!

The difference being that these were managers who had relative success - Davey doesn't have the track record to suggest that he is worth perservering with
