Thing is, most BFC fans with at least 7 working brain cells are quite able to admit that he's got his weaknesses. Coming for crosses was always one of them, but I think he's improved on that since Wilcock arrived. But I still feel he's a little soft at dealing with corners played into the 6 yard box - he ought to be more imposing for me, as a keeper never gets whistled for barging into opponents. Last season, pre Flicker, we had the awful problem of centre halves who were soft in the air, and Luke who struggles to command his 6 yard box, hence the glut of goals conceded from set pieces. His kicking has never been great, especially when under pressure (which was often thanks to Keith's love for his defenders to pass him it 24/7). But I don't think his kicking generally, is as bad as HT in particular points out. Look at Alnwick - his kicking is worse from what I've seen. But they are Luke's weaknesses, from what I've seen over the last 5 years. And it's only those weaknesses that have stopped him playing in the Greed League. But for anybody who watches BFC and the Championship clubs in particular on a regular basis to say he's not a top keeper at 'this' level, is bordering on lunacy. I'm not saying he's as good or better than Kasper, Cesar or Kirkland etc. But he's in that bracket. But of course, those clubs higher in the Championship food chain have a Luke Steele quality keeper already so he was never likely to get a move there, and neither do I reckon he'd have wanted one. I know for a genuine fact that he had offers on the table from Burnley, Bolton and Doncaster. He stayed here. Good. Now let's move on, eh? And for the record, anybody who thinks Alnwick is as good or better than Steele needs to just watch the training video on player. Both lads go through the exact same routines. One of them looks miles better in each department than the other one. So much so, it actually startled me how average one of them was at the mere basics of goalkeeping.
I'll second that...........although at least he puts a point of view over on this rare occasion instead of just trying to follow the crowd when he sees someone getting abuse
Nudger, I do not give anyone on here abuse. Please prove that I do before making such an insidious claim. I'm certainly no follower, either. It's not my problem that my views on most things are shared by the majority. The only one getting abuse on here of late, has actually been myself, courtesy of Hemsworth. But I'm not bellyaching about it. I took it in good spirits, because I care more about my nasal hair growth if I'm honest than what a stranger thinks of me on't internet.
