Attendances have held up quite well, all considered. I think the limit should be £20 for a ticket, but the major deciding factor for casuals is winning games. And we don't win reight often.
A few nippers near me have noticed his absence and they aren`t happy bunnies, another coupla years and they`ll be on here moaning with rest of us. Does anyone know owt abart Toby? Is he missing, been mistreated and done one or has Mr C given him a loving home in that there London? Should the club be offering a reward? Should it be dead or alive?
I think there's an element of '**** it' from a lot of fans, not just Barnsley fans. It's increasingly difficult, tending towards impossible, to punch above your weight any more due to the influx of oil cheats, bored American billionaires, and Far East rich boys flaunting their Thai currency. In some ways, you might as well compare bank balances in the centre circle, and go home. The '****-it' attitude of supporters reflects this reality.
Re: Only one solution to this problem I'm in Wakefield, born in Barnsley as were my two kids. I've always followed the results of Barnsley but failed to attend for what must be 20 years. My son 9 plays but has never been one for watching the game whether on TV or wanting to watch live,,,. His primary school got offered tickets to watch Huddersfield for £10 adult and child so we went, we did the same at Leeds ,, was freezing on both occasions. Anyhow he's had kits for Real Madrid, Man city, through seeing me watching games on sky, he got the Leeds kit as most at school are Leeds fans ,, I've been asking him if we wants to watch the reds for at least 12 months but he said they are crape dad,,,,, any how 2 weeks ago he asked if we could go to the Barnsley game as he wanted to be different from his school mates as most were Leeds fans,,, of course I obliged, was delighted and booked tickets for Yeovil at home, walking to the ground he said to me dad can we do this more often of course again I obliged and was delighted to hear this, went and bought him a scarf. In family upper we went for a pie at half time,, cue was massive, game started and we missed the goal but he saw it on the screen ran over and jumped on me , spilt coffee all over the place that I was holding. Saw second goal pen, same again he jumped round my neck I knew then that this was his club as he never did that at Huddersfield and Leeds. So off we went to buy a full kit.....64 quid.... ouch.... We went to Donny, we were sat at low level I asked him what he thought and he said he preferred upper tier at reds as he could see the game better.. So we are hooked and will probably go to all home games from now on.... Told a few of my mates who said did I realise it was child cruelty and he was subject to a lifetime of disappointment....I told them to foxtrot Oscar as we had a great day and were proud to be Barnsley. I guess one of my points is that why haven't Barnsley approached our School with such a deal to start em off young like Huddersfield and Leeds, there are a lot of reds supporters in the bordering Wakefield area, maybe they do this but haven't found our school. Cheers,

Re: Only one solution to this problem The Reev hits the nail on the head! We can bang on about improving match day experience etc and that will have a negligble difference but a winning team playing attractive football is the one sure fire way to get more bums on seats.
Re: Only one solution to this problem Always said it. It's all icing on the cake. It's great to have when you're doing well, to capitalise on the feel-good factor. When you're not, quite frankly I couldn't care less about face-painting and cheerleaders. I've even lost interest in the scoreboard - which is now just long beyond a joke.
Re: Only one solution to this problem cant keep blaming sky,we had crap crowds long before the first dish went up,our attendences only picked up when we were winning, says it all really
Re: Only one solution to this problem Really liked that story mate reminded me of me n my dad when I was younger he took me to watch the reds from 96 the promotion season he is barnsley born. He stopped going in 2007 but gos to the odd game every now and again. Took him to the boro game at xmas he wasnt too impressed with the footy but enjoyed the day. I have had some great days and nights watching the reds with me dad though ones that will stay with me forever. Me favourite season I think was the bassett days can remember going to school thinking cant wait to go oakwell saturday hopefully them days will be back soon.
This all experience ****** really grinds on me . Don't care about refreshments don't care about Toby Fukin tyke don't care about about half time entertainment just want us to win games and the crowds will follow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The club are a one trick pony when it comes to trying to attract fans. Everything revolves around the season ticket. They seem oblivious to the fact that many fans can't get to enough games to justify getting one. The extension of the half season pass offer, for instance, has led to there being no discounts for the first four home games of 2015. Opposition such as Yeovil, Port Vale, Fleetwood and Oldham are therefore all full price games, which is ridiculous. For the league games, there's been a couple of 10% online discounts and only one significant offer, for the Friday night game v Colchester (from £17.25). Last season there was a £5 discount per match for Trust members, which should have been extended to everyone as a membership scheme this season.
So we need to win games to attract fans maybe we should tell the club they obviously haven't thought of that idea...
Re: Only one solution to this problem I have had a season ticket for the last 18 years until this year. There were a few things that made me decide not to get one this year, but the main one was that I wasn't entertained last year. I don't mind if we don't win every game but I do want to see exciting football, trying to win games and commitment from the players. I have only been a few times this year but only seen one game that fits the above (Bristol City)
Re: Only one solution to this problem Crowds won't pick up until the team are challenging consistently in the top 3 or 4 of the league and even then it won't be many. Folk are skint and many have lost faith in the club. The match day experience is ***** too, especially the catering which is utterly dire service and way too expensive but ultimately it's about what happens on the pitch. Decent football with plenty of goals and some will return...
