Vic demonstrated yesterday how not to press. Iseya was little better. Morris and Woodrow did it very well
Dunno are you better served to judge than all the managers that picked and continue to pick him? I know I’m not.
Iseya is a good player. He was awful yesterday. Failed to press and lost the ball pretty much every time he touched it. Cole has 1 championship goal to his name ever but hey ho.
I'm not. I just don't get the clamour for him to be dropped when I can't see who will come into replace him? In case you haven't noticed, no one is scoring for us or even looking likely to.
Please can people stop saying Woodrow’s giving it his all. Running a lot is only part of the game. You have to compete physically with centre backs. I’m not saying I expect Woodrow to be out jumping & winning the majority of headers but he at least needs to be competing with them & making them uncomfortable. Before Saturday he’s just given centre backs a free header almost every time. He would’ve been dropped under Val if he’d done it as we had options. He’s been able to get away with it this season as we’ve not had forward options. Bradshaw did it, Winnall did it. They weren’t big physical players. I can’t really see what excuse Woodrow has not to.
because there is literally zero chance of us getting a better replacement. We don’t buy Championship level forwards as Cole, Vic, Miller and Obbi demonstrate.
Maybe we do. The only options we're trying at the moment jv is Woodrow plus two a n others. It's not working. I'm not saying exile him forever, simply try a different variation. If he wasn't scoring but we were winning I could maybe swallow the argument of"look what he contributes elsewhere ". Unfortunately he's not scoring and we're not winning. It's just not on, in my opinion, to say he has to play every single game. I'd certainly give a front three(if that's what it has to be) of Morris, Cole and Isseka a go for a couple of games. Woodrow, from what I've seen in the last couple of seasons is nowhere near the best player in the team. Again, I'm certainly not anti Woodrow, he's been a great servant but he's not untouchable. I'd also add for those who are saying who can we buy to replace him?........at the rate he's scoring....it's pretty much anybody. Dons tin hat.
Agreed Helen, but he plays every week and isn't scoring. Others are playing once every two or three weeks, unable to get a proper run in the team and equally aren't scoring.
Exactly. We are comparing apples to oranges. An ever present to bit part players. The word thing is that this is somehow being used as an argument in favour of Woodrow but the stats actually show that every bit part player has a better record this year than he does. It's over 22 hours of football since Woodrow scored for us from anywhere but the penalty spot. Even bit part Victor has got two in about 2 hours of play.
It's more dangerous to stick with something that you know isn't working. In fact, I'd say that's negligence.
But what we know isn't working and hasnt with Cauley for two years. He's been a good player and I'm sure Whitey is right in saying he's a great lad who's proud of his time here. I could go on but I've said my piece. Hopefully he gets 20+ in League One next season and Morris another 20.
I'm out too, this is a very circular argument. My last comment on this thread is that I truly hope the lad finds his shooting boots, while ever anyone wears our red shirt I honestly want them to do well.
