I know nothing about the new coach and I know nothing about his criteria for what makes a good forward. I will say this though, if the new guy comes in and gets a tune out of Woodrow then I'll be chuffed to bits.
Can't just keep carrying a bloke every game incase we get a pen. For me he is in awful form and has been for about a year now last season dike and Morris were scoring and it took the pressure off him. This season he has less goals from.open play than iseka who was out for the 1st part of the season and Vic and cauley has played every minute. The thing with woodrow is he has built up a legend status with some fans where no matter what he does he is our best striker and untouchable.
Well that Watford player had 2 saved against Man U. Not as easy as you think under pressure, otherwise as you say everyone would be taking them.
In this case it doesn't though, does it? Best strike rate 1 goal every 3 "games" they're on the pitch. Might as well get ready for L1
I would just say two things to add to this. Firstly has Woodrow been playing well? Secondly, has he been scoring enough? Regardless of the current dire state of the entire team I think the answer to both those questions is 'no' and has been for a very long time stretching back well over a season and having played under 4 different full time managers. He should be dropped for the teams sake and to give someone else a chance to impress. It will only do him good.
It's my opinion that he's our best striker. I'm not claiming he's played well this season. But even if I'm in a minority of one, I would always select him. Others like yourself wouldn't, I don't have a problem with that. Just because you, and others on this thread, think differently to me doesn't mean you know less about football. Nor does it mean you know more.
I think he needs a rest, but with the new bloke picking the team next game I think he will start so Cauley lad tek advantage. Whilst he is gerrin a lot of stick he aint alone everyone of our players from last season has gone down hill and I include Collins in that but only slightly( few **** ups and a poor spell of kicking).
12 of his 52 goals are penalties. It seems more because 7 of them were last season. Teams who are doing well tend to get a lot of them.
I thought he looked good today. Link up play was better but can’t really remember him having a chance, apart from his long (ish) range effort. We don’t really seem to have a cutting edge in the final third at the minute. Apart from Morris.
Could well be a factor. I thought his pace could’ve added a different dimension to us today but nope, he stayed seated all game.
