Let's be right - I back Hill as much as anyone, but re-writing history doesn't do anyone any favours - Wilson turned this club round - the season under Anderson had been awful, we started Wilson's first season with half a ground and no sponsor. He turned the playing squad round and as Merlin said, brought Bullock and Sheridan from nowhere and made them promotion winning players. In context, the Championship was a much more level playing field than it is now and I think we're up against it, but Hill's a long way to go to start to match Wilson's record.

A million...thats if we got it all at once ....less tax which currently runs between 22ish and 30%...which knocks quite a big hole in the million.

Let me put this a bit differently......the club got promoted and had success because Wilson bought established Championship players

    Wilkinson and Hendrie

Because at that time Barnsley was in a position to buy such players

Hendrie then went on to get Craig Hignet for £900,000

When has Keith Hill been in a position to do business like that ??????

There you go again , totally ignoring the fact that I said Wilson was **** at getting players when he got some money to spend, he picked up lots of bargains and brought young players through.

Like I said in my first post , WHY WILL HILL BE ANY GOOD AT GETTING PLAYERS IN IF HE HAD SOME BIG MONEY?
He got the job because he said he didnt need any money!
It`s now he moans about having none.

PS, Edwards, Harewood, Vaz Te. all proven at Championship level, just like Hendrie and Wilko !!!

Let's be reight here - Keith's openly admitted this league is more difficult than he thought. He did come in with his ego in his pick up truck but I've not seen much of that lately. Must be in his Barbour pocket.

He's made mistakes. He's not the best manager we've ever had. He's not the worst. But he's learning and so are his players. All we can ask. Reaction from Saturday has been mental.

It's seems more than just a point of view.... judging by the sheer number of posts by 2 or 3 posters saying the same thing time after time it seems more like an obsession

My point being..............Hill is far the better manager than Wilson

If we could choose..........and the directors did exactly that when they appointed Hill instead of Wilson............it has to be Hill every time

Wilson may have squandered money when he had it........although I dont think he did badly on the evidence of the players he brought in
    The team got us promotion
Its only when he was trying to build a Premeirship side that he came unstuck...........but then again he was trying to build a side from nowt so obviously it was going to be difficult.

Hill, the man who kept us up due to a points deduction for another team, hill the man who has an absolutely terrible record statistically?

He is decent, nothing more and nothing less and there is absolutely no evidence at all to suggest that he is this amazing brilliant manager you seem to think he is.

Completely agree with you like, but Anderson bought Sheridan and Bullock. Wilson didn't sign a single player in that first season, which makes the job of taking us up to 6th in the league all the more remarkable. Compared to that season we're flush at the moment.

Sheridan made his league debut away at Sunderland on 3 Jan 1994 and played a couple of other league games under Anderson. Bullock didn't play a league game under Anderson but he played in the Anglo-Italian Cup away at Middlesbrough where Sheridan made his club debut as a sub.

Yours, a man holding a Rothmans book.

    Agree with all that.

Although I don't think the reaction has been all that mental.
