    I don’t understand why we don’t call it yards. As far as I know we are not part of the EU any more so let’s start using feet and yards again, and pounds and ounces. We didn’t adopt the Euro so why do we use these EU measurements?

    Because it’s not the 1950s? The metric system makes far more sense being multiples of 10. 3 feet in a yard, 16oz in a pound is just daft. Imagine that it had never been that way and they were proposing it for the first time tomorrow.
