Anyway, back to my original question

Why does the national media give so much coverage to this anniversary but gave minimal coverage to the Bradford fire??

RE: Anyway, back to my original question

dont know mate. all i remember about the bradford disaster was john helm commenting and saying 'oh that poor man' as a bloke tried to put out the fire in his hair. never forget it.
all the press coverage for the hillsborough disaster never seems to mention the 5000+ drunk liverpool fans that turned up without tickets, trying to get into the leppings lane end.
i wonder how many of those doing the campaigning, if asked, hand on heart, turned up on that day, without a ticket?? just a thought.

Its a common Liverpool tactic at big games to 'steam the gates'. They still do it in this day and age.

The primary and main cause of the disaster was Liverpool fans

Trying to gain entry to areas of the ground that they had not got a ticket for. The police opened the gate yes but at the end of the day liverpool fans tried to gain entry to areas of the ground that they did not have a ticket for.

If I left my door open and a criminal walked in and stole something then the criminal would still be in the wrong.

The root cause was liverpool fans taking advantage of the open gates

and trying to gain entry where they didnt have a ticket.

Gates open and close, nobody forces people to go through them into somewhere that they know they shouldn't be

and how many of those who were there on the day, are now on tv blaming a, b and c without once taking a serious look at themselves. none, cos they are liverpool fans thats why. hysel was somebody elses fault as well i take it?

just had 5live on

they played a documentary about it,
i doubt there were 5000+ drunk fans....5000+ who'd had a drink yeah, but not drunk.
the police fecked up and let too many into the middle of the stand, treat the parents of the dead like criminals, more bothered about trying to find out if their kids had been drinking.
total **** up by the police, though i do say the fans without tickets there must feel some guilt, but it was common practice to turn up without tickets then.
as for the difference between that and valley parade, we all know the answer, its because bradford aint that famous and the aftermath didn't have that much impact on our football

i beg to differ. if nothing had gone wrong at hillsborough in 89, 5000 minimum would have been bragging about getting inwithout tickets. they all keep quiet now cos they know who they are. the ones that caused the crush at the turnstiles, that caused the gates to be open in the first place.

they didn't filter them thru to the sides though, if they had i dare say it would have helped even if too many were in.
too many into a small area instead of too many into a large area.
i remember been at stoke a few months earlier and stood squashed for the entire game, much smaller scale i know, but if we'd had 500 more come in it would ev been chaos too.

The only thing that niggles me about the Taylor inquiry

is that it was an official inquiry set up and backed by the government.

As such and being a cynical old barsteward, I find it difficult to believe a word of it.

Dont think someone is a f**kwit for suggesting that some Liverpool fans played a significant part in their own disaster. No single group of people was wholly responsible. Fans, police, stewards, SWFC officials have all got to hold their hands up and admit they played a part. The whole of Merseyside have closed ranks and collectively absolved any Liverpool fan of guilt over this, just as they did over Heysel. They don't need you to do the same.

I remember that at Stoke, it was a cup game. I was terrified at the time we were so squashed together

RE: That is an incredibley ignorant post

"on the 20th anniversary of the Bradford Fire Disaster

Fair enough, less people died but are their deaths any less tragic? Not in my opinion.

One thing we can say for definite that day is that the Bradford and Lincoln fans had no responsibility whatsoever for the deaths that day."

What's wrong with any of that?
