    Perspective required

It's the end of January, the single most tight money wise of all the months in the year. Folk are skint.

It was a Tuesday night game, which always seem to attract lower 'on the day' fans than Saturday fixtures, and it was cold, wet and horrible weather.

Some folk also work evenings and nights so can only attend Saturday games - I'd guess more than those who work Saturdays and can only come on Tuesdays too. I'm in that category myself. I was attending the Saturday games on November and December when we were absolute gash so I'm not gonna stop now.

Lets have less of the 'I'm a better fan than you' and the defeatist attitude that folk won't return, and start raving about the performances and encouraging them to come back. There'll be folk who haven't been this season at all, ones that have been once or twice perhaps, who might be more inclined to attend when the team is playing well, or because the weather is improving, or because its cheaper.

Stop criticising - and some on this thread aren't criticising, they are doing what I'm trying to do - encourage the people to come back by shouting from the roof tops exactly how different things are under flicker.

It might take time, they won't flood back and you can't expect folk to buy into it as soon as we have a good run of four or five games.

But by the Bolton game, the first game in march, hopefully the message will have been got across, all the things will be in place for better crowds, we'll hopefully have had a few good results in February too. The 7700 home fans could be 10000, Bolton will bring a fair few I reckon, no reason we can't have a gate of 13000 or thereabouts. We only have one home game in feb, and it's a Tuesday night game I believe, meaning I won't be at the well all month. I don't tend to go to many away games any more as I've got a young family, but I'll be at one or two at least as I'm not going a month without a game. Not Blackpool, probably Middlesbrough and mk, maybe brizzle if I can afford the diesel. That is the biggest game of the month I'd say.

Optimistic to say we can get 13000 for bolton yes but not impossible - will only happen if we encourage the folk at work, in tarn, at the boozer, wherever, instead of having a dig.

Its taken years to lose 3k fans..and they ain't going to come back after 3or 4 decent results, on a wet tuesday in january..it ill take time...lets see what the gates are if the run contiues into March....and we've a good chance of staying up...
BTW 20 quid a ticket is still to some people a lot of money so must never again go above that if this club wants any decent crowds

    Very disappointing

Mind you, my dad had a newspaper clipping from the late 60s of him and a couple of mates standing on the away end, they were the only people on it apart from a copper. The attendance that day was about 2000.

On the other hand we were both there in 1981/82 for the Liverpool and City games, both about the 30,000 mark, fantastic nights.

Som of the stayway fans are running out of excuses not to go. Maybe the rain was last nights excuse.

Pissing it down on a cold wet Tuesday night against Millwall is a good enough excuse for me.
I've got a season ticket so went as per usual, but if I hadn't there's no way would I have bothered.
