What a bizarre thread this has become...

Name me one player ANY club has paid a significant fee (relevant to that particular club) for and given a one year contract to.

    What a load of cobblers.

He wouldn't even want a one year contract, what if he flopped and no-one wanted him then?

    Pointless point.

I think we should offer him a 2 year contract with a £500k get out clause. :)

    How about that

Another nightmare of a post. I just hope for your sake that you were pissed when you came up with that.

not at all, just looking at what agents tend to be doing at the moment with players under 25, finding them a decent stepping stone where they'll get first team football, And not pushing there player to the highest wage payer, but making sure there playing first team football, giving them the best chance of improving, wile making sure there player as the contract stacked in his favour, in case he dose improve and attract attention from clubs willing to pay top whack when it comes to wages, so as not to be stuck somewhere on a low wage, year deals with a year extension option at the players descresion seem to be the in thing at the moment, especially with young players leaving Premier league clubs.

I don't have too much of a problem with us being a stepping stone for other players but I want us to get as much financial benefit from the situation. That's not going to happen with twelve month contracts.

Your 100% right, but what can you do ?, unless you have the financial clout to offer good wages, you'll be at the mercy of players and agents, if your not happy with the package they have offered then you don't sign him, but who do you sign then ? because any player good enough for this league will not want to be tied down to a long contract at a club like Barnsley due to the wages we pay. its a 22

He does look a good player, but if we signed someone like Ribery and he came from a lower league team people on here wouldn't be happy.

Looks decent on that video, similar in style to Ricardo, but let us remember those were clips of him in action in League Two. I would like us to get him though, as he has great ball control, and decent strength - sumat our squad lack. But if it's a straight shootout between us and Boro, prepare to be disappointed. Makes me wonder what's going to happen to Adam Hammill though. If Boro are looking at Carayol, then their loan of Hammy can't have been fruitful, and I doubt he'll get in at Wolves. A years loan with us would have me tempted to sign back up for another 23 games...

Only if we had signed another 9 players from lower league teams!!
Its not just one player that people are complaining about its the 1 + 9 others.

Any team can absorb 1 or 2 players, but to try and fill a team with players from below is crazy !!

over spending and putting the club at risk is crazy, buying within your means is just running your club the right way. its just a petty that we can only afford unproven players from lower leagues,

Where did all the Norwich players come from.

The majority of that team came from the lower leagues and below, yet they got promoted easily from the championship and managed to stay in the premier
