Eriksen wanted away for a long time. It coincided with a loss of form/playing crap/losing interest. To be fair he's still not regained his mojo. This "need to understand" idea for in demand players doesn't wash these days. The only deal that works for them is more dosh I'm afraid. Brown is the latest example - wrong for him and us to keep him.
TBH I think Woodrow wants to go anyway. His body-language, to me, hasn’t been right since January. I think his agent might be pushing for a deal so he can bolster his wages on a long term deal whilst EFL finances allow. Hopefully I’m wrong, but just got a feeling about it. I don’t think the club want to sell him - but if a player wants to leave, it’s difficult to keep them - regardless of money and/or club.
Tend to disagree regarding your assessment of Woodrow's attitude. You are suggesting he's not been trying hard enough for the team for the last 10 months. That'd hardly bolster his stock in the eyes of another employer. Do agree that if he's hell bent on going, there's not much we can do. Let's face it, there's no chance of us advancing far up the league as a club at the moment. Plus no manager. Plus boardroom turmoil. Plus Woodrow will earn more elsewhere. And might get to play where he thinkks he's best suited. We do need an encouraging replacement though. So hope can spring eternal.
No, you have mis-read my post. I said his body-language. Never mentioned attitude, work rate or anything else. Many footballers at the moment realise that money, going forward, especially in the EFL might not be what it used to be. Therefore I can see a fair few decent players trying to get better deals with longer terms whilst they still can. Jacob Brown’s done it. Left whilst he is at his peak almost, and signed long term for big-bucks.
2.5 mil were wanting. I really don't know what I can day on here. The words I wanna use will be worth a ban.
As far as most of us are concerned, our survival in the Championship this season is paramount and based on past performances, Cauley is an integral member of our team and is hopefully if played in the right position, our best bet in delivering the goals to help us achieve our ambition come the end of the season. Given what happened following our Football Leauge Trophy Final win against Oxford in 2016, when we were unable to prevent several prized assets forcing a move away, in Cauleys case, it's vital that we resist and whilst being aware of his ambition to earn more money elsewhere, at least attempt to persuade him that he will have to postpone any move until the end of the season. Sadly " most of us" are not running the Club and it's an unfortunate and historical fact, that as and when any EFL club shows the remotest interest in any of our squad, our Board are more than likely to succumb and take the money, irrespective of how it compares with the better deals that other teams at our level seem able to negotiate. As others have said in the past, it's something we will have to get used to, because it now happens season after season in line with the declaration our owners made when they took over the Club from Patrick Cryne.
Unfortunately when it gets to the end of the window, it’s irrespective how much money clubs offer & irrespective how debilitating it would be to our squad, the Yankee doodlers will take it. money in the bank, ching ching. if we stop up with what we’ve got, we’ll that’s just a bonus.....
Watkins is leagues above anything we have had here for years I think he will do well in the premiership. I like Woodrow but sorry there is no comparison between him and Watkins I think watkins will go on and have a good career in the premiership.
I just think that if that 2million figure is accurate and we sell our best Striker for that something is very wrong somewhere. We haven’t a hope of getting a replacement for that figure
If we let him go for the reported figure of 2.5 million then they need shooting. I don’t care what they think his market value is, with decent service he’d get you double figures every season We’re becoming a laughing stock and easy to manipulate
