I can’t think of a single justification for selling him for 2.5m, and I don’t care if he wants to leave or not. Should just be giving other clubs the message to back off, if they then offer 5m then give it some thought. I’ve tried to be reasonably understanding of transfer dealings over the last couple of years, but I don’t see how even the most ardent of ‘happy clappers’ could justify this sale if it happens.
No point carrying on supporting us anymore we just keep seemingly letting players go well what they should cost. Yes he’s been ***** back end of last season but players get signed from leagues below us who have never played in the championship never mind scored for much more. Fed up of it all at the moment tbh. Regret renewing my season ticket. This isn’t the Barnsley FC I grew up supporting anymore.
If we sell Woodrow that will be three strikers sold without their being adequately replaced. Laughable, really. We would have absolutely no time whatsoever to replace him, and as with Moore, we won't. It also puts to bed the idea that "all money generated goes back in to the team"; this is now clearly fùcking böllocks. I don't know where it goes but it isn't in to the team.
Lots of armchair experts - Woodrow is worth x, y. z. Is he? He's worth what someone will offer. In any case it's not your money....
Wouldn’t sell for less than 3 million but obviously we will. Wish we could grow a pair and act like Peterbrough when selling players
Agre Agree with this, they have a fantastic opportunity to make some real clear statements 1) To the fans 2) To the rest of the league that we will hold out for the right money. His value won’t go down between now and end of season and a grown up conversation along lines of give us this season etc works for both player and club.
It is our money seen as we pay our hard earned cash to support the team. I renewed my season ticket this season which in turn contributed to keeping the club going through a difficult time, like others did so we’ve earned the right to have an opinion on whether we think we’re being shafted on transfer dealings or not.
We were getting more money for players 20 years ago this lot know the price of everything but the value of nothing!
Break this down another way. Are supporters happy if he goes for say £4-5m? Providing we brought in two replacements, barring in mind you’re looking at strikers from league 1 or 2 OR young Premier League loans.
I'm not happy if we sell him no . If it were similar money to Ivan Toney and we had a replacement then a very reluctant yes but only if he was really determined to leave. We need him, simple as.
Its nowhere near as binary as that though is it. Football transfers are never black and white. There are going to be some hugely disgruntled supporters on here the next few days. I’d also say in no way am I defending them but I’d suggest this isn’t all the boards fault.
Mighty Donny rovers league one want circa 2 million for a league one midfield player. We get rumours Barnsley are discussing 2.5 million or less for a proven championship striker. Fxxking joke
Shouldn't even be discussing selling, tell Woodrow and Cardiff he's going nowhere for anything like those figures
May as well pack it in totally as a going concern if our best strikers flogged for anything less than 5 million plus in today’s championship market. It’s absolutely pointless continuing on really as I see it if there’s absolutely no ambition whatsoever shown by Lee,Conway and Co. I’m totally numb and disinterested now with the shambolic ambition-less stance of these owners. If they’ve no plans or ambition which clearly will certainly seem the case if Woodrow is sold for an undisclosed pittance as per normal, they should sell us on ASAP. Oakwell Jokewell
Actually in terms of impact is is absolutely that simple. People complicate things to dress up the reality of further weakening our own team. We shouldn't be selling anyone to that cowardly violence condoning gerbil anyway, out of principle.
