Could have financially- but couldn't attract them to BFC

Decent players come to football clubs not just because of the money they can earn, but because they wanna play in a decent side. Thats why McIndoe got face on and walked. Thats why McPhail wouldn't re-sign and (at a guess) thats why Chops went to Cardiff (apart from his love in with Riddy).

Its all well and good saying 8x=3y. But if y doesn't want to play for us its irrelevant.

True. As it is to say if we don't even speak to x,y or z then they won't come to us.

    Totally

Like we spoke to Lucketti and he told us to get bent. I don't like it but I think we just have to stop up and try to get a good footballing reputation next season before we'll get to sign decent players.

Go down and we're f_ cuked

Fair enough- but I bet there's plenty other's who've said no to us

Either that- or we've not been targetting them- which is worse.

    Yes.

Cos we only wanted him on loan in January.
It's not like we wanted him before the season started or owt - oh no, not on a proper contract - no way.

In the words of Mr Doyle ... "there's a story to be told".

I blame Andy Ritchie for not wanting to spend money on buying better players.

"We need an experienced player like him and we tried to sign him during the summer, but we could not match his financial demands."

Translated as "show me you wanna stay up and i'll be realistic, otherwise its top whack"

    Maybe

"Tried to sign him during the summer"

"We need an experienced player like him and we tried to sign him during the summer, but we could not match his financial demands."

So, we tried to sign an experienced, championship standard centre half in pre-season ... but Gord wouldn't cough up the cash - he'll only do that if we want to sign 378 12 year old Wrexham midfielders.

    I don't believe Andy Ritchie.
    He must be lying.
I think he didn't want to sign better, experienced players - he just wanted to stick with an average league one squad & get sacked when we went down.
    Booo Andy Ritchie, booooooooooo.

My take on it being the cynical grumpy t-wat I've become

    We can't afford Chris Lucketti.

But £100k McCann + Wages and £75k Mattis + wages, + Leon Knight's wages, no problem.

    No.

    Translated as:
"we tried to sign him during the summer, but we could not match his financial demands".

It doesn't get any clearer than that.

    We tried to sign him.
    We wouldn't pay him enough.

    But don't worry.
The board backed Andy 100% ... he just didn't want any better players - and so was rightfully sacked.

    Boooo Andy Ritchie.

    Hooray Gord & Clipboard Colin.

    ppg and preparation.

ppg currently at 1.2 and a bit - better than AR's, but let's see after Sunderland et al have visited Oakwell. And if preparation for Colchester meant having Togwell on the bench and Mattis in central midfield then good luck with getting any money from me next year.
