yeh...dont really know what definiton of a country is to br honest. It was not recognised as a country for many centuries. I believe it was officially disolved into England in 12 or 13th century.

    Situation's all changed

You're wrong there mate, nothing concrete as yet though. And apparently, there's still a chance of us getting a UEFA cup spot if Pompey finish 5th!

Therein lies the problem - it's not official.

The dissolution has never been recognised in Wales - it's another one of those historical examples where Kings of the past have laid claim to someone elses lands.

And besides, none of us are countries anymore are we? We're all part of Europe surely (hidebehindsofa)

    Yeah, right :D

exactly. The Welsh 've met seem to dislike those from Cardiff more than the English?

Can't see you getting it if Pompey finish 5th, as that's never been the case before, the cup winners take the spot for the cup and the league qualification moves down a place.

You're not far wrong there mate.

There's a feeling in Wales that "everything goes to Cardiff" and the old green-eyed monster then has it's say.

North Walians feel completely isolated and separated from the decision-making centre which is the Capital. The extremities of West Wales and to a point Mid-Wales is the same.

The valleys feel they have "made" Cardiff through industries of the past and developed it into the thriving place it is now with little reward themselves.

Sw*nsea suffers terribly with Second City Syndrome and despises anything that happens in Cardiff. They relate everything to Cardiff and always make the comparison. That's not just your football fan, that's Joe Public & politicians alike. They really are a sad breed down there.

Newport is along the same lines as Sw*nsea, just scruffier.

Having said all that, from my experiences recently, everyone seems to be behind our FA Cup bid - jacks excepted.

    RE: Situation's all changed

    No, I can't either tbh.

But this situation has been going on for years where the Welsh clubs are the only ones whose access to European competition has been denied - all to do with our governing body , the FAW. Bless 'em.

UEFA has been lobbied several times in recent years (particularly when they had their AGM in Cardiff) over the issue and there's been such a fuss through the FA Cup that UEFA President Michel Platini has stepped in & agreed it's unjust.

There may be a possibility of a wild card entry - ala Liverpool in the Champions League a few years back.

There's people in Snowdonia? Thought there were just Gogs! :D

I've relatives close to Snowdonia (originally from South) who moved up there 30 years ago. They are completely different in the North tbh - fiercely patriotic the further you go west & basically scousers as yo get closer to the border.

It's like comparing a geordie to a cockney, a cumbrian to a cornishman. Different ideals & way of life.

They're not keen on us & the feeling's mutual :D

I could see that the wild card may happen if you win the cup and the FA deny you the place, but if runners up then I don't think UEFA will bother. It's not that long ago that the winners of the League Cup weren't allowed into the UEFA Cup if they weren't playing in the top division (that was when the FA Cup holders qualified for the Cup Winners Cup) and that was a UEFA ruling.
