And now it seems Emily Thornbury is to sue as she claims it’s a lie.

funny old world - politicians lying, people believe it because it’s what they want to hear.

    no one fact checks anything

everyone thinks their opinion is sacred.

It's to be hoped, Caroline Flint is telling the truth or it could cost her money as Emily Thornbury as said she will not stand for the lies and as informed her solicitors to take the matter forward.
Sums up for me why hundreds of thousands of people no longer believe Labour because they have been hoodwinked by lie after lie after lie and people still believe the bullshyt they broadcast.

Best about this Buffoon Micky is the more lies he tells the more people like him you could not make it up.

As I posted earlier; people will believe lies, especially if they’re designed to reinforce already held beliefs.

I note how you and a number of others regularly refer to Boris Johnson as a 'Buffoon' .

Whilst I don't don't defend his eccentricity, occasional gaffes, and somewhat dubious track record (to put it mildly) regarding his honesty, I think it is a bit rich coming from some on here given I recall him having been President of the Oxford Union, received an upper 2nd degree from Oxford (however 'privileged' you can't buy one of those), received Commentator of the Year Award at the 'What the Papers Say' awards, was mayor of London for 8 yrs, Foreign Secretary for 2 yrs and Now PM.

What have you lot achieved in life that entitles you to look down on him? I suspect he could well be 'on the spectrum' which may cause him to appear, on occasions, to lack empathy. He also displays a single mindedness and often focusses on one thing only to the exclusion of all else, as well as a number of other traits that suggest that. That doesn't imply lack of intelligence, far from it, some people on the spectrum have high IQs.

The assumption that he will destroy workers rights and allow tax evasion for the rich is just that, an assumption based on prejudices and there is no actual evidence to prove that will happen. You can scoff all you want but , as I said there is no actual evidence at this moment in time that you can present to back up your allegations.

I did NOT vote Conservative, have serious doubts about Johnson but I do not resort to petty name calling someone I have never met or communicated with via social media.

Whilst I cant disagree with your comments about him being a buffoon - that is something he most certainly is not I would like to question the statement you make below

    1. The key reason getting out of Europe by 31 Jan is precisely to avoid the super rich benefactors ( and in some cases members) of the Tory party to avoid tax on their offshore holdings - something that would have been forced on them had we remained in the EU.

2.He changed the wording of the Withdrawal agreement from that which May had incorporated guaranteeing workers rights to something which allowed more flexibility - ie he has removed the guarantee - now it may be that he doesnt use that and workers rights are unchanged - but there is certainly evidence there that those suspicious are right to raise their concerns - why else would he do that

of course we could wait until the law has actually been changed before voicing concerns but its a bit late then - that said its already a bit late as he can do pretty much whatever he likes as no Tory MP is going to oppose him anytime soon and no one else can touch him anyway

Note to self on part 1 - Independently check things - it seems some prominent remain tweeters ( David Lammy for example) may have been as attached to the truth on that part as some of the leavers.
Thanks for the correction - it seems I have been lied to and believed it - happy to be corrected when given evidence I was wrong though.

We will need to differ on part 2 - taking out legal protections from binding documents allowing the opportunity to change them in my mind constitutes evidence that they are at least being considered.

I don't look down on him for what he has achieved - although with an Eton education and a influential millionaire politician father I'm sure I could also have achieved at least the same grade but in a more rigorous subject - without his start I got as far as working towards a PhD. He does not act like he is "on the spectrum", but he does act like a narcissist with empathy issues - probably more towards psycho- or sociopathy than autism (which accounts for 1% or 4% of the population respectively).

As for his record, you don't mention the sackings for lying (The Times and as a Shadow minister), or when he arranged to beat up a journalist, his unknown number of children or his record as mayor or Foreign Secretary. Ask the family of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe what they think of him, or the Garden Bridge, Water Cannons, or other expensive mistakes. He did have some successes, but there are rumours that he was effectively sidelined to become a mouthpiece while the work was done in the background.

I do however, look down on him for his attitude. Racism, Sexism, lying and bullying have no place in society and each of those alone should exclude him from high office.

He did though , you don’t belong to some of the clubs and societies he belonged to at Oxford if you are from Barnsley. How much did his family pay for his education and therefore his degree . The first thing he did at the Cabinet meeting was repeat the lies of 40 new hospitals , 50,000 new nurses

Listen, Tekky I may not have had the education this Buffoon as or had the money to educate my self, my parents certainly did not and could not send me to Eton or some other school that learned you that you had a right to rule then going on and Joining a club like the Bullingdon club and shoving my owd man into a pigs gob before being admitted. BUT apart from the Torys kicking me out of my job in 1990 and 2012 I worked every day of my working life and have a good name in that regard, as the Buffoon got a good name regarding his working career, I can safely say I have never told a barefaced lie I have never abused any woman especially my wife of 49 years, I do know how many children I have, I have never called anyone racially a letterbox, a bank robber or a
pickaninny and I have never insulted a gay person by calling him a bum-boy I think that I have every right in calling Johnson a Buffoon, I also think I have every right in calling you a Buffoon for sticking up for this Buffoon but I won't as you are just giving your view, I view of a Buffoon I do not share with you.

I'm not a person who teks name calling to heart, i'm also impressed with the knowledge of a lot of people on ere. but theres a lot of opinionated people on ere, who in my opinion are very derisive and scornful, and some are condescending. I tend to say it as it is, not always reight, not always wrong, but i would'nt intend to belittle anyone like it happens, far too often on ere. Keep threading, keep the faith, and av a great xmas.
