Cars - what is the point of having Rev counts on display?

    They are about as handy as toothache, very little use unless possibly you were mutton geoff, I've driven for 20+yrs, cars, hgv etc and I never take any notice of them, I hardly look at my speedo never mind the rev counter..
    I think people associate them with sporty cars so maybe they help to sell to boy racer types, they are a pile of /poo

    They're just tossers

    And I bet there's don't go upto 18,000rpm (neer)

    At 5,000rpm on the Civic Type R and 7,500 on the VFR800 if I remember correctly!
