Difference is you can change suppliers.

    Footballs a fixed audience.

So even more reason to fleece your loyal support. The casual fan might not have made up their mind on who they're going to stick with yet.

Does that mean the return fixture against such and such will only be £20, as that's all we paid there?

Oh no sir, we only ever reciprocate one way. Our minimum prices are fixed. We're very much givers rather than receivers when it comes to bending folk over and giving them a right good reciprocating.

To put it into perspective- two other examples of pricing.. One good one not so good...

In August, my wife and I are going, as a 'one off' with a group of Opera loving friends to see Carmen (which is about the only opera I can stand) as a one off at Macerata Sferisterio (close to where we live and a historic famous outdoor purpose built venue) It lasts over 3 hours and is a huge production (part of the annual Opera season there with full orchestra, World famous opera lead singers etc.).
The top price tickets are 150 Euros (120 euros concessions for over 65s) and 1 euro for under 14s. Cheapest tickets are 25 euros (20 concessions) .
Prices in part reflect the fact the venue holds only 3000 peopleand costs of staging these is quite high given the relatively short season. However, the entire season always sells out so they could probably price it much higher given the demand.

The other side of the coin...We are also going to see 'Zucchero' (look him up- the man who brought Blues to Italy) in Verona amphitheatre September next year He does 12 nights and tickets for the best seats sell out more than a year ahead. We went to see him 2 years ago there and the staging, lighting and sound are spectacular. He assembles a band of around 14 top flight session musicians who tour regularly with him (e.g Kat Dyson). However, the tickets are sold online through a booking agency (Ticket One) and it is the usual rip-off inasmuch as, whilst ticket prices are not bad, the add ons are...W euros for postage, X euros for Booking admin fees and Z euros for 'cancellation insurance' (all compulsory) the end result being 190 euros in total for 2 tickets (albeit the most expensive seats in the arena ) This, for little more than 2 hour show but it does hold 15000 for concerts (30000 in Roman times) making the opera prices look a bargain
That said top prices for Albert Hall tickets for Zucchero are £200+ and the full stage set is too big to fit in the Albert Hall!

Still you pay your money and you have the choice. and these are one off events annual events for most audience members. Top performers Film,Music and TV only demand high prices based get paid on the box office draw, which is different to football where high wages are the norm and people go multiple times in a season. IMO it is solely the level of players wages which is screwing football.

Reciprocal pricing... we always go by what the away clubs charge us, but how do we fix our price for them if we play our home game against them first?
We could, if we wanted or cared, set a fixed amount for all home games for the away fans at say £25, or whatever.
Reciprocal pricing surely means that the return fixture at their place is the same amount.
We don't know what other clubs are going to charge us until THEY release their prices... how can we reciprocate until this is known? It'd be a bit of a ****** if Sheff Weds and Leeds said Barnsley was a Cat 9 fixture and therefore was to be £5, and we'd already said their price at Oakwell would be £36.

Huddersfield Examiner today mentions their pay on the day price is 30 quid for adults, so it will probably be catagory B at Oakwell.

Pinnock moving to a Brentford proves that clubs like Barnsley need to start charging us more for season tickets so we can compete.

    Agree to disagree then.

The reason it’s done in batches is to try and ensure that any deals offered to home fans have enough time to be offered to our fans, and vice Versa. The way we avoid that part if by offering a set price for two games. Or more (bundle deal).

Also, what benefit is there really to announcing pricing for a game in seven months time?

If say Preston have charged us £25 a ticket we’ll charge them Cat C regardless of how we’re doing and how big the game is.
