Bernard Manning

I'm not one to be easily offended, but I think Bernard Manning is repulsive.

Little Britain doesn't do it for me.. ... a bloke in a wheelchair saying' want that one' and then proving that he's not ill, an obvious cross dresser stating that she's 'a lady' I could go on... all of these were quite funny as a one off but to build three whole series oround them is pushing it a bit.
I think like many sketch shows that rely heavily on catch phrases and characters in similar situations all the time, they get stale quickly - 1st series was very good, 2nd not bad but stale by the 3rd, similar criticism can be levelled at Little Britain and, to a lesser extent, The Fast Show.
RE: Lenny Henry was NEVER funny When he first came on the scene he was...but judge him by recent offerings and no he's not that funny
She's bang on, but as Eaststander says, there's a danger of her stretching the original material too far.
I'd agreee with those 2 Peep show never gets tiring...as is the case for spaced.
That said...Mitchell and Webb standup Ifound to be poor
4th series of Peep show starts soon...can't wait!

do you know when the new series start - mitchell and webb is poor i agree, but then they didn't write peep show i don't think.
I'm not sure...but I think either next week or the week after. New series adverts have been on a fair bit lately, so I reckon it'll be starting soon.As for the writing, I always thought they were involved in the writing, but that perhaps it wasn't just them.
I quite enjoyed the two mitchell and webb series, got them both on dvd, but the stand up was just the exact same jokes from the second series they were in, word for word. And the DVD is the exact same set as when I saw them, dissapointing as I thought they would vary the jokes, at least slightly!

Thought Mitchell and Webb was excellent - The Adventures of Sir Digby Chicken Caesar - quality! Man Stroke Woman is ok as well, although a little hit and miss
I think what dissapointed me ... was the fact that when I saw them live in Preston, the jokes were word for word the same as the sketches on their show on bbc2. They were still funny, although when you know exactly what is coming (the snooker commentators) it loses a lot of its edge. I expected similar sketches but I thought they could've written new material.
The DVD was also exactly the same as when I saw them, same order, same jokes. Worth watching though if people aren't familar with the sketches

Another Jo Brand fan here. Put Catherine Tate on the same level as Toby Foster...They seem to think themselves funny. Thought Jo Brand made a good job of playing the organ in the Albert Hall (not just a pretty face)
Inconsistantly funny some of her sketches are funny and some are boring as ****. mind you people laugh at Peter Kay because he says Garlic bread alot. My Family is the funniest thing on TV, followed by Top Gear.
Toby Foster is your extremely poor mans Peter Kay (some of his material also smacks of Chris Evans circa mid 90s).....seems to love trying to milk the 'lets take the pee out of Barnsley people, way they talk the town etc' - usually the preserve of Southerners and sad one of our own resorts to it.
RE: Inconsistantly funny My Family is the funniest thing on TV, followed by Top Gear. and if you include Radio then for sheer rib tickling laughter I would put the shipping forecast in third spot. .....................I used to like Swiss Tony a few years back and thought he would make it big but sadly he went off the Radar.
I think the problem with Little Britian Is that the first series was taken directly from the radio show with developed characters. Also with it being a direct lift from the radio, a lot of the humour was verbal. With the later series, & the need for new characters, there wasn't the chance to develop them & they seemed to decide to go for cheap, visual gags.
The best for me .... ...Eddie Izzard !!!!
Saw Billy Conolly in 2001 3 hours great material and very entertaining
