It's a subjective term. Competitive to you might mean something different to me, and different to the club. I guess context means a lot too, because saying competitive budget right after saying we're projecting £10m in losses, might also mean something different.
I'm not sure what the point of continuing this conversation is really. I've agreed it's not ideal and I've agreed he probably shouldn't have made promises. I've not got a great understanding of how other clubs are negotiating the window in league one, but I'd be astounded if the majority aren't still selling and buying throughout August. And it's been the same in most recent years. We won't know what our squad looks like till September, so I'll judge it then.
Even without Mladen or the club saying anything, I am disappointed so far in our refreshing of the squad, even considering our financial pickle of a 20 billion Black Hole (I may have mixed up a couple of stories here).
But it was said in the same terms talking about this seasons aims, which was challenging to get out of the division to quote "whether that be automatically or through the playoffs"
During which time we will have played 6 league games 3 of which will be Plymouth, Bolton and Huddersfield.
I’m with Archey in that they shouldn’t have said it and need to think more about what they say,why & when. The “issues”!don’t change but they don’t help themselves by some of the communication.
Was you happy with how DKD performed over ther season? If we were to recruit 4 more of his type but had to wait until end of window would you class that as a satisfactory window? I know it’s unlikely but the point I’m trying to make is a season isn’t won or lost in the first month.
Yeah, setting themselves up to fail. Best to say nothing I think, because clubs will also get slated as unambitious if they acknowledge how difficult it is.
I'd like us to do what we said we were setting out to do when laying out the plans for the forthcoming season. Just for info, DKD was very much a Darrell Clarke driven signing, without his input that signing what not have got over the line.
it may be harsh but it’s right. Especially true when like us you are training in an entirely new system. As I said it does open up some market opportunities and you grasp them but in essence to give your coach as much a chance of success as possible early is best.
Let me introduce you to Liverpool. Hit clearly. Hit hard. Compared to man I **** about and get found out
Liverpool? Who did they sign early last season that was a hit and made a difference to them winning the league? Help you with that, they didn’t. They signed Ciesa who played 6 games in the PL though hardly a shining example.
