Who did he poach when he went to West Brom then? So he has managed to take 2 of our Analysts then to 2 different clubs I bet Conway was all Cuba Golding Jnr. "SHOW ME THE MONEY
Was a different analyst that went to West Brom - Jack Riley. https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2021/july/backroom-staff-head-south/ Although, any analysis of this season shouldn't take too long. Probably a job for @Bossman
I can't recall exactly, but didn't he take our head of sports science (hence why we were largely knackered with the lack of fitness programmes over the summer), but I thought he took another data analyst too?
Yes, he did. But I was always baffled by the idea that him leading meant that the club couldn't work on players fitness in pre-season. We still had a fair amount of coaching staff in (Laumann, Eckart, Devaney), and if we had a Head of Sports science, then I presume there must've been a team working for that person, or even an option to contract out on a temporary basis. Yet, instead, we did nothing. Shambolic for a professional sports team at any level.
Just found it Jack Riley and Johnny Northeast https://www.wba.co.uk/news/murray-joins-ismael-confirms-backroom-staff
It raises a lot of questions doesn't it? We had what I'd consider very junior first team coaching staff who for whatever reason, didn't feel like, didn't want to interject, or didn't know, how to ask the remaining sports team to rearrange itself. Likewise the board of directors once our CEO left. Nor did what I suspect were very junior people behind the scenes have the gumption or confidence to pipe up sufficiently to raise the issue. You'd hope some of the players had a major chunter, though again, you could understand our new signings especially, and some of our younger players to just go with the flow. I really hope we never see anything quite like that again.
When we finally sacked Schopp, many of the fans were confident that hiring Neil Warnock would have kept us in the league. Why did we not hire him? It would have worked. He did it with Rotherham a few years ago - when Khaled suggests that "a manager we spoke to wanted crazy money" it might be worth pointing out that Rotherham did it! As a follow up to this - does Khaled think that there's an ideological approach to hiring managers that prevents us from getting the best results?
Question: Many of the fans would say that this season has been the worst managed campaign in our history. To take a team from the playoffs to relegation suggests negligence from the board, and off the field the club has also hit a new low. If this is the worst job a board has done in the 135 years of Barnsley FC, do the owners understand that they are not good at running football clubs?
Hi Gally. Thanks for this. Nice and simple closed question, with no room for interpretation. He confirmed last week that there is a break clause in Poya's contract, if we get relegated. Is there also one in his?
