Article in the Huddersfield Examiner by Steve Chicken supports the majority on this sites view, by saying he thinks we will buck the trend as we have " a clear identity and a game plan" and might therefore survive. With the Club yet to conclude all of of our business, I don't know how he can say that with any certainty, but I'll go along with it. Personally speaking, even though it looks likely that we could lose some members of our promotion squad, with the promising additions made thus far, I remain optimistic that we can defy the bookies odds and hopefully stay in the Championship. https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/spor...le-gegenpressing-barnsley-relegation-16459604
Agree NTM. What a depressing thought having to play them at the Den, four days before Christmas Day.?
To my knowledge (I might be wrong), they have to balance the books. A lot of people bet lazily - 'teams like Barnsley' etc, so put money on us going down. They therefore stand to have to pay out a lot if we do, so can only offer short odds. If they put us at 8-1, people would snap it up and it'd be a big risk for them. 8/10 we won't go down, and they keep a lot of money, but when we do, a lot of people win bets and they need to pay out.
Although we were great last season it was a very poor divison with some real rubbish in it. How many times did we let teams in and they finished poorly or picked the wrong option. Much higher quality in the champ and those mistakes will be punished. If we get off to a good start we could finish mid table but to say im not worried and no teams scare me is very naive.....
