Then again Doesn't Nardiello deserve the same amount of opportunities that Richards and Hayes were blessed with , earlier this season .There have been a good number of occasions that these two have been totally ineffective, yet their place in the side appeared to be automatic . Surely everyone deserves to be treat equally ? For example , Hayes has failed to score in the league since the Stoke game on the 9th September , whilst Richards has scored once in his last nine games . Nardiello has started the last two games , so wouldn't it be fair to provide him with a similar run of matches ?
RE: Then again Agree with what everyone is saying about giving him is chance, I was saying the same thing when he was on the bench. The point im trying to make is that we can't allow him to have another game like he did on Saturday, nevermind another 5! He needs to get involved more, and work for the team OR atleast look for the ball.
RE: Then again Yes it would but not alongside Knight because as many others have said, they are too similar in style. Maybe there is a case for playing them 45 mins each, until they both reach a better level of fitness and then deciding which of them is the better player.
Yes , on that I can agree The service provided to the front two on Saturday was woeful . However , that doesn't hinder either making movement and find space that helps the rest of the team provide them with chances .
Perhaps Simon Davey sees Knight and Nardiello As the two most likely to grab a goal from the fewer chances we may create . If Richards and Hayes were struggling to score that many from the bagful of opportunites created by our gung-ho style under Andy Ritchie , they're hardly likely to suddenly become more prolific when we adapt a more defensive style of play .
The exact point I was making Richards has had his chance, Nardiello deserves his. If he starts the next 6 games and doesnt score enough, then at least we know. we know exactly what we're going to get from Richards and its not enough for the Championship. sorry, as much as I want him to be 'as good as Shipperley', he's simply not good enough.
No. I don't even like David Bowie. I'd like to hear a bit of Billy Ocean. With the chorus of "Oh what an atmosphere" by Russ Abbot every time we score. They ought to run a competition with the fans ... the winner every week gets to pick the music the team runs out to, when we score & what gets played at half time. My selection: Run out to - "Wuthering Heights" by Kate Bush When we score - "Oh what an atmosphere" by Russ Abbot Half time - "Carribean Queen" & "When the going gets tough" by Billy Ocean
RE: Perhaps Simon Davey sees Knight and Nardiello I accept that but I think that either one of them is more likely to score playing alongside Richards than alongside each other. As for Hayes, I think he has had more chances than anyone else at the club, to show what he can do and for the most part he has failed, due IMHO to lack of effort, lack of interest and more than anything, lack of heart.
I don't have a prob with Nads I'd like to see him get a run in the team, but I can't see him & Knight working well together..they both need someone to play off. (and it isn't each other).Unfortunately Richards is the only man in the squad who holds the ball up/ gets flick ons etc. If you play Nads & Knight together you're basically saying that you'll not win anything in the air and that means everything has to be pin point thru the middle for Knight to run onto or for Nads to conjure something on his own. Would've liked to see if Howard could have put in a few killer passes for either of them cos there wasn't much incision coming out of midifeld.
Spot on. The intro of Richards on saturday finally made the ball stick with our front 2 and Knight looked like he could get on to Richards' passes/flick ons. imho Those 2 should start on Tuesday, or Richards and Nardy.
If the pair of us can debate this Without resorting to personal abuse , why can't others do likewise ? I'm not saying you're wrong , by the way , as I usually prefer a "little and large" combination up front myself . After bringing in Knight , it's a fair assumption he's first choice . Who plays alongside him ( Nardiello , Richards , Hayes , Joynes , Jarman , Coulson ) is open to conjecture amongst us fans . It's up to Davey to solve the problem for the time being . Whoever he chooses , though , will need to have a far superior quality of service than was provided on Saturday .
RE: Dare i suggest... rather have nads in the team than knight better all round footballer for me,knight will be going back in jan anyway!
RE: If the pair of us can debate this Personally, of the players we have available, I believe that Richards is the better option to play alongside both Knight and Nardiello. He isn't the best but he is the best that we have. I agree totally with your point about the abuse and even more totally about the quality of service on Saturday. In support of Davey, I think his and the teams first priority on Saturday was not to lose, therefore attacking flair was perhaps sacrificed for defensive solidity and it may well be more of the same tonight, or even until we have a new manager, who ever that might be.
I think you're right It could be quite a while before we're seeing anything remotely like flowing football again .Davey's remit , and that of any incoming manager , is to get as many points racked up as possible irrespective of how they're achieved . Substance before style , if you will .
RE: I think you're right .. and that's how it will have to be until we can truly claim to be safe from relegation and that wont be this side of Christmas.
