My Wednesday mate said he wanted a 3 year deal rather than a rolling one year deal and tuna man said no.
I know who I believe and if I were Moore I’d not be engaging with the tuna man in some sort of public slanging match. Actually I would but Darren won’t because he has too much class.
Tuna man has thrown him under the bus for me. He knows that Daz now has to either respond publicly, or keep quiet. If he responds it gets messy, which is definitely not Daz’s style and Tuna man knows that. If he says nothing, many will just assume it’s true.
He could just deny that the figures quoted weren't true and leave it at that. Dignity in tact and I'd dare say most would side with Moore's version
Just pleased we don't make such statements. Less pleased we've chosen the Y6 design project of one of the board's kids as the new kit.
The 4x salary is probably a fixed four year contract vs a rolling one-year contract, rather than a massive increase in payment amount. I'd trust the decent human being rather than the temperamental chairman.
My guess is there's some truth to it. If there wasn't I don't think he'd put it in black and white like that and leave himself open to legal issues. However, I'm guessing there's some creative accounting making it sound worse than it is. For example. Lets say his previous contract was 200k if they're in league 1 with a 200k bonus, 600k if they're in the championship. He's asking for 800k in the championship. While it's technically 4x his salary last season, it's not 4x what he would have had and not 4x what he had last season. Obviously numbers are examples, but I'd put money on it being something like that.
Strange thing to put in a statement, because if it is not 100% true he is leaving himself wide open to legal action. A 400% pay rise demand sounds crazy, unless Moore was on a particularly low wage to start with. I don’t expect Moore to respond to this and I hope he doesn’t. Chansiri is doing his best to put off any manager wanting to work with him in the future though, by coming out with statements like that.
I have nothing to add other than the pointlessly pedantic point that 4x his salary would be a 300% pay rise, not 400%
One site quotes average salaries for managers. £870,000 Championship £180,000 league 1. Nearly 5 times more. Makes you wonder what sort of wage Duff is picking up.
Whats that saying....you shouldnt hang your dirty washing in public....mmm Coming from the same bloke who invented a taxi firm to get round fair play rules....
3 questions....... i) Does this mean a manager in the Championship is on £3.46m or is it a player? ii) If so, Who? iii) how pissed was Carlton Palmer when he typed that Google search?
B0ll0x. Chansiri just didn't want to sign youth players. It's not the Wendy Way. He's just hoping that Mourinho comes knocking on his door now. Deluded, like their degenerate fanbase
i/ii)Ismaila Sarr watford player. Circa £3.25m. could be him with bonuses. But this is reputedly the highest paid last season in the Championship at Reading on loan from Chelsea so I wouldn't really count him on that basis. Chelsea loanee Baba Rahman is the highest-paid Championship player in 2022-23 with a reported weekly wage of a whopping £89,000. Rahman signed for Chelsea in 2015, but made just 23 appearances for the club before a succession of loan moves. He has played for Reading in 2021-22 and 2022-23. Circa £4.5m iii) Probably
