Early season under Ritchie we would have hammered them ,

however we weren't in that situation , the contract ******** had done irreperable damage to the manager/chairman relationship, and by extension the team.

The team had lost focus because Ritchie knew he wasnt going to have a future at the club, and that feelingappeared to be passedonto the team.I reckon AR was gone at the end of the season no matter what.

    Therefore Ritchie had to go.

    Pretty much it, I think.

GS started it by saying negotiations would start immediately and AR/RH could have whatever length of contract they wanted. Only to turn round a couple of weekslater to say there would be no talks. I'd be pretty annoyed if someone did that to me, particularly if others had been wanting to talk to me about jobs paying twice as much at the time. Even footie mangers have families to feed.

RE: Did you not see any improvements on the field at the beginning of the season?

Just where was this improvement that you talk about?
Ritchie achieved 18 points from a possible 54, approximately a 33% return. Blackpool took us to penalties in the League Cup and MK Dons knocked us out of the League Cup.
Since Davey took over, he has achieved 11 points from a possible 30, approximately a 36% return and Southend have knocked us out of the FA Cup. Now you tell me, how much of a difference are there in the two records.
Don't think I am making excuses for the current regime because I'm not. I thought and still think that Davey was the wrong choice but I get so angry when people try to make out that we were better off under Ritchie and that we would be "safe" now if Ritchie was still here. The facts speak for themselves. We were not better off under Ritchie and we wouldn't be "safe" if he were still here.

Who is saying we would have been safe under Ritchie by now?

You are being deliberatly antogonistic if you are denying that we were better than last season. The performances on the pitch early season merited a better return than we actually got. Luck wasnt with us however , but thats life.

If the contract nonsense hadnt blown up then I do think Ritchie would have gained more points than Davey has done out of the games he has had in charge. Thats just my opinion however

I dont understand where you are coming from though.

Oh and you do sound like you are making excuses for the current regime.

Think it was alot to do with fans makin a point about how **** davey has been and that we r very unhappy with the decision to give him the job, more than the fact that we all love ritchie and want him back running the side again. I kno in past posts, I have been very supportive of gs and davey, but after last nites performance, I am beginning to come round to the majority of thinkin. I have given him the benefit of the doubt for long enough, the guy jusy doesn't seem to know how to run a team!

    Sorry, but simply not true

The majority of fans were (relatively) happy with AR and what he had done with what was basically a bunch of journeymen footballers. I believe another 2 or 3 games would have seen him return to winning ways - we were soooo close in so many matches - had the rub of the green gone the other way, the picture would have been very different.

Just a shame GS got rid of AR purely to be seen to be doing something and I believe, to cover his own back.

I have questioned your command of English before, it obviously hasn't got any better since you don't seem to understand it any better than you write it.

    Are you Gordon Shepherd?

We are now starting home games as if we are the away team, i.e. soak up pressure and pray we get a goal on the break. For me the proof was at the Wednesday game - at Hillsborough we went a goal down but fought back only to lose to a last minute goal that not a lot of teams could have done much about. However, in the return game we went a goal down and capitulated, the only good thing about the game was that Wednesday didn't score twice as many as they did.
Davey appears to have turned a bunch of players who actually looked confident going forward into a team that could get turned over by a confident sunday league outfit.
He may be a highly qualified coach, but there is a massive difference between a good coach and a good manager.
