    It was a late challenge, clear penalty

    If you get to the ball second and send the other bloke flying (don't try and tell me it was a dive) it's a foul.

    100% a free kick in the middle of the pitch, hence it should also be a penalty.

    Never a penalty! And the way he went down was awful! I would say he'd win an Oscar but his acting was bad, too.

    Did the defender even realise Gerrard was coming? If not then he should have gone for the ball as it was in a dangerous area. My first thought was he should have booked him for swan diving, but it's a game of football at the end of the day, it's not like you're not expected to bump into each other now and again!

    The defender gets to the ball second, runs into Gerrard and knocks him over.

    As I say, Gerrard was probably looking for it, but he certainly didn't dive.

    That collision at the speed he was travelling would have knocked anyone over.

    Clear penalty.

    And if two players collide, with one getting to the ball first, then yes, it's a foul.
