Dreamboy needs signs and rules wherever he goes

Do not cross the road without looking. Do not put your hand in the meat grinder. Do not chop your head off with this knife. He's that sort of lad.

    RE: it IS a ticket

I've sold lots of used European Championship & World Cup tickets via ebay in the past. Not breaching anything. Apart from the possibilities in this instance of getting a SF ticket, there is a huge collectors' market for these sort of things. Like stamps, I guess.

Making money out of freebies from the BBC?

Nice to see my licence fee being put to good use.

    Freebies??

I wish!! I got four tickets for the Chelsea game - the cost to me was £100. I think back at France '98 there were a few freebies knocking about - I went to Argentina-Jamaica and the France-Croatia SF, but it's very much pay the going rate these days. Unless you're working at the game, as I did at most of England's games at the last WC, when you don't actually need a ticket. Sorry to shatter any illusions!

why do the bbc have to send so many people to games to cover them? I can understand it when it is bbc camera equipment etc being used but for the world cups dont they use the same videos as everyone else in the world?

And why do they always have to send lineker to the games? He isn't commentating so why does he need to be sat in the stadium?

We use host coverage, but will have at least one camera of our own in the stadium to tailor things for the UK viewer, particularly say for an England game Despite what the likes of the Daily Mail like to report, we staff things like World Cups and Olympic Games with just enough people to get the job done. From experience, the working days on these things is rarely less than twelve hours - I did three consecutive 17 hour days in Osaka last summer!*** (zzz) With no home nation involvement in the summer, our staffing for the Euros is significantly down on previous tournaments. Why do Gary et al present from the stadium?? I'm not sure. It's something we've pretty much always done. I think there'll be more studio-based presentation this time round.

As far as I know, ITV are doing all their presentation from London for the Euros. Then again, they've decided not to show the FINAL live, which speaks volumes about their true commitment to football!! (lol)

*** Between shifts on the bins, obviously. Just in case Blade is trolling again.....

Put it this way, a few days ago he was advocating spending money on rebuilding the West Stand to increase the capacity of Oakwell.

It can't be classed as touting

It's a used ticket. Ticket stubs are sold on ebay all the time to collectors as sports memorabilia.

Well "pillock" I wasn't saying they would take up the offer. I was simply making a point, just like you are also entitled to do on a forum "pillock".

Games were live via the red button, with highlights on BBC3 early evening. And the problem is.....???

Of course you are entitled to an opinion, but the 'example' you quote barely stands up. What's this "poncy horse riding" you refer to? Badminton Trials?Hickstead? Olympia Showjumping? Three weekends a year. All that up against Football Focus (most-watched football preview programme), Match Of The Day (most-watched football highlights programme) FA Cup live games (three per round from Round 3 on) and highlights. England and the other home nations internationals either live or highlights. African Cup of Nations live, Women's World Cup live. From the next contract Premiership highlights as normal, Football League live games and two highlights shows every weekend. Carling Cup and very probably your Wednesday night Champions League game live.

Public service broadcasting means being as broad as possible in our appeal. So if that means showing the Badminton horse trials or Hickstead, so be it. They still pull in the kind of audiences Sky can only dream of and those horsey-types pay their license fee too!
