You can afford flights, hotels, expenses to watch German and Italian games but not the price increase at Oakwell?

I think the prices are excessive and misguided by the club and I hope they reconsider, but the vast majority of games are going to be less than £30 a game which isnt high vs the current market rates.

Yes I could afford it we all go away for a laugh now and then but not every week. Like yer said the prices are excessive that's the whole point.

 

I'm not disagreeing that it's expensive. However the average cost of the first few games is about £1 more than last season, and indeed some games are cheaper, so I'm not sure why the club have 'stopped' you going? Is it out of principle? It can't be affordability because it's barely changed on average.

I can't get a ST because I have a baby and don't live in Barnsley to just pop down. I'm out of the house for at least 4 and a half hours, so I'll just go every now and again until he's old enough to go. I'm going to try and choose the category C and D games where possible, will which actually cost me less than last season.

I totally get the argument that £38 is a lot, but that'll probably be 3 games - Leeds, Wednesday and Newcastle. In fact it'll be £36, because they'll be made all-ticket so you won't be able to pay on the day. Most games will be hardly any different to last season. Football in general is very pricy to watch too, and I agree £20 is plenty, however I know it's not realistic for us to charge £20 and everyone else charge £30-£45.

 

Not wishing to argue mate, but this doesn't really make sense. You're going to pay on average less than 10% more than last season for a much higher quality product, so to say you never mind paying the money if it's worth it doesn't add up. £25 a game for L1 or £26/7 a game on average in the Championship? And if you choose games like Rotherham they'll even be cheaper.

If you have 4 games at £36 and 6000 buy tickets its over £800k income so yes it would be a massive difference to £20 tickets .


If you've got 2 young kids you'd have been better with a season ticket , great value . Nearly every game will be around the £23 to £28 anyway which isn't much more than last season so don't get why the club have stopped you going .

Football if fcucked. Not a single Club playing in the top 4 divisions of English football can justify the entrance fees but it's driven from other areas. When you read that Pogbas agent is set to receive £18m for brokering one transfer plus the rest of the transfer fee then you realise that someone is going to have to pay.

Couple that with Sky continuing to pour obscene amounts of money into the game then it becomes a perpetual cycle.

Everything to do with football in this country has lost any sense of value when figures of £7m & £8m are referred to as 'ONLY'.

Add to this the other 'support' costs such as policing and everyone else that wants a piece of the pie.

Do I think that the prices are too high - YES

Do I think that BFC are to blame - NO

You could have said would you pay £20 or less for players like Winnall & Hourihane though.
Anyway the jury's out on Bradshaw & Moncur. Dawson was OK for us in this league despite the abuse he gets on here. I'd be happy if either of those two put the same effort in as Dawson.

Because it's not a supply and demand business unfortunately it's a business that is dictated by fat cats and multinationals that all want to take, take, take.

Obviously the prices quoted are too high, they always are but to compete at a product level, because of circumstances beyond the clubs control the prices have to cover costs and provide some level of funding to better the product and compete.

If tickets were cheaper the club would run at a loss as it has been doing for the last few years, being propped up by a wealthy benefactor.

It's not right but as I said, IMO it's football that's driving this.

Look at the Championship; Huddersfield Town £20 (£180 Season Ticket) Wigan £18 (£240 Season Ticket), Burton Albion £20 - £24, Reading cap away fans at £20.....


The pricing structure Barnsley FC have adopted is that adopted by Larger Clubs with Bigger Followings where they can afford to squeeze out some of the pay on the gate fans, unlike Barnsley.

 

I can,t but I,ve bought a season tickets on instalments stop moaning nobodies interested.

 

The cheapest seats may be £12(15€) at Bayern, but they are like gold dust, never available on general sale and unless you have a willing contact you will pay well over £100 on Vianogo or anything cnutish website.
