5 million horses are killed for meat every year in the world ,reckon all of them would have taken their chances running round Cheltenham on a Tuesday afternoon than dieing a horrid death in a slaughter house
Banker of the festival. Absolute machine and still only six years old so only going to get better. Lovely to see Honeysuckle win too. My favourite mare winning her retirement race.
Only bet 3 and all 3 won. Although admittedly I got lucky on last race as it looked a lost cause until the leader fell at last fence.
I had Constitution Hill and Galliard Du Mesnil in a double...I was a bit worried there towards the end
Backed Jazzy Matty. Other two I put money on were Big Breakaway (pulled up) and Mahler Mission (fell when possible winner). Am up on day and tipped 3 winners but feel gutted!
First day - 4 winners and an ew lucky 15 in. Decent start. But… previous years I have done well on first 2 days then lost the lot on last 2. Must take a different approach this year
With some decent winnings, I had a flutter on an accumulator on football. 6 team job. And guess the team that screwed me over..... Bleeding Wigan. With their extra problems I assumed Coventry would take the win. And it was a bleeding own goal at that
How did Gaillard du Mesnil win that? Moreover, can he really be still as big as 14/1 for the Grand National? He looks made for it, and gets in off 11 stone, with no penalty for yesterday. 1.30 Hermes Allen 4/1. Afraid of the Mullins horse, but at the odds, Hermes has to be the bet. 2.10 Gerri Colombe 2.50 Langer Dan 3.30 Energumene all day long. 4.10 Delta Work, hopefully en route for the National. (20/1, but will shorten if he wins this again.) 4.50 Andry Dusfrene seems laid out for this, is well tipped and yet on offer at 6/1. 5.30 Ten Willie Mullins runners? Don't ask me to sort that one out!
A general trend seems to be that the British horses run well in the handicap chases (Corac Rambler) and the Irish dominate the handicap hurdles. With that in mind, I'll be having a few darts today. 2.50 - Grand Roi and Tax For Max 4.50 - Global Citizen and Elixir Du Nutz --- General fancies... 1.30 - Good Land for the Marine Nationale connections yesterday. The Mullins fav is surely underpriced, and Hermes Allen may be a little slow to live with the Irish (will be backing for the Brown Advisory next year though!) 2.10 - I think Gerri Colombe will **** up. 3.30 - Emergumene to beat Edwardstone, the rest a fence behind. 4.10 - If the ground is soft, Galvin. If it dries up, Delta Work. Snow Leopardess a lively outsider. -- Don't listen to me though, I can't tip coal.
1:30 Gaelic Warrior e/w. 2:10 Sir Gerhard. 2:50 Camprond e/w. 3:30 Edwardstone. 4:10 Deltawork. 4:50 Dinoblue. 5:30 It's For me.
I think Classical Energy went too early myself and used too much up trying to close Mahler Mission down. Good performance by the winner but the race was set up for him.
Good chance of a treble for Paul Townend today with… 1.30 ….. IMPAIRE ET PASSÉ 2.10 ….. SIR GERHARD 3.30 ….. ENERGUMENE
1.30 Hermes Allen 2.10 Thyme Hill 2.50 Elvis Mail 3.30 Energumene 4.10 Delta Work. Snow Leopardess to place 4.50 Before Midnight 5.30 Fact To File As usual any juice in the prices and I'll be having an each way. Watch this space for Elvis Mail though.....
