I think it's pretty common knowledge these days that your ticket revenue is no longer the most important income stream. Good numbers above though for insight - and I assume that's based on those 12,000 all as full paying adults (when the reality is for every x amount of full price tickets we sell we give it y in free or discount kids' tickets). The general chat on attendances above is, to me anyway, more linked to figuring out/looking back on previous seasons and crowds at different levels - in terms of support/loyalty rather than what it does to the balance sheet. Could be wrong.
But once the club falls out of the Championship gate money becomes a bigger percentage of income. In league one it’s around 40% of turnover, championship it’s around 25%. You can understand why the club are desperate to promote season tickets and get some cash in the business.
@Loko the Tyke I've just read the last few pages and the part where I think it's redvesp accuses you of being the trust and representing the trust on here etc and thought I'd give my little input (for a change). I think that your views are your views and don't represent the trust's official stance at all, however I assume that the trust board are all quite friendly with each other and are similar people* so your views are likely to be similar and that kinda makes your view the trust's view even if it's not official but there's absolutely nothing you can do about that. If you resigned from the trust someone else would take your place and they'd be in exactly the same position, if gally did someone would take his, if hicksy did etc. It is what it is, it's always been this way and it always will be. To say this isn't a criticism (he may have meant it as one, I certainly don't) just an observation and attempt at explanation. Now where I do have an issue is that you and gally both went into that q&a wanting answers. You pushed Khaled quite hard on some and whilst you remained polite you gave a few exasperated sighs that made it clear you were a bit pissed with his answers. Then you tried to arrange a meeting with Conway that didn't happen and got into a few spats with the Conway out group where you both slagged each other off. Nothing wrong with that really, you had completely opposite views. But then something has clearly happened or you've both been privvy to some information that appears to have completely changed your opinions from going into that meeting and now. The question is what? Gally says there's something happening but can't or won't say what, you haven't mentioned anything but you've both been very Conway out. You keep saying all roads lead back to Conway, gally goes one further and actually says Conway out. This is just a few weeks after a public spat and lots of criticism from yourselves of the Conway out group. As I say, something has clearly changed or you've been told something and I completely get why you can't or won't say what this is but you have to understand that your stance has dramatically changed even if you don't realise it and that this is why people are suddenly sceptical and are saying you're in their pocket etc because some inside information or action that the wider fanbase doesn't know has caused you to do a 180 (ok more like a 45). Again that's not necessarily a criticism but an attempt at explaining. Remember when you are shouting down other people's opinions as being negative that you and gally were just as negative a few weeks ago and us who are still negative don't have the information you have. A last point. You mentioned deleting your account. Stupid idea. Your stance on the club and your membership of the trust is just one small part of who you are and what you bring to the BBS and whether people agree with you or not on those I assure you that they (or at least I) enjoy reading everything else. Even when you're being a bit too Trumpy * By similar people I mean the kind of person who likes to get involved, volunteers, likes to be seen to be doing things for others and has a similar vision for the future of the club. In other words the personality traits required to do the 'job' are the traits you share as opposed to liking similar movies and things.
As a not so quick reply to some of your comments there - deliberately putting this in bullet points as well to appease RedVesp. Me and Gally disagree on way more than 50% of everything! You've then got very different views and priorities if you compare us to Alan, the Chairman, who founded the FSF with other Trust Chairmen at other clubs (I think), or Ray, who's an SLO. It isn't the scene you picture here, honestly. I really didn't ever slag off anyone within the Conway Out group. Got plenty back like. I've always been very vocal about the £750k, the West Stand closure, and threatening to move us away from Oakwell. I was on Radio Sheffield the week of the West Stand announcement condemning the behaviour and comms from the club, I wrote the open letter to the owners that Doug published in the Chronicle, I spoke at the previous CEO Q&A directly to Khaled about why these things mattered, and still matter, to Barnsley fans. I got a round of applause three times for being very direct and honest (I'm not bragging - just trying to explain). When you're so openly talking about these issues, especially to those at the club, you realise and sympathise with the pieces/mess they're having to pick up. I also think our recruitment was terrible, our 'method' of not replacing Dane was negligent, and everything leads back to Paul Conway. This does intensify when the glass half full approach you always adopt gets emptier, and emptier, and emptier, as the season drags on I'm not sure people are sceptical because of a change in stance. I can't answer for them. But some will want more overt action from the Trust I'm sure. I wouldn't ever shout down a negative opinion that is linked to facts and actions that have severely impacted on supporters. There are posters though that do try and make everything negative and that can feel over the top, quite grating, and unfair on those at the club who are just doing their job. The day to day doesn't stop just because we lose, or because we hate the owners. There's still a community out there that need positive news, updates, and don't feel that hatred we're seeing more and more. Turning ever news update back towards a dig at the club is just exhausting to me. That doesn't make me right and it doesn't mean those people should stop, but it's surely ok to point it out providing it's not linked to criticism about who they are as people Appreciate that kind of message though. I'm always more than open to having dialogue on this kind of subject as I think it's important.
