Hecky has confirmed that a takeover has truth to it.

Hecky aware of takeover, it is true, but not his place to talk about it. Radio Sheffield interview.

Hecky has just said in an interview that (and im paraphrasing)he knows about the discussions but its not anything to do with him so he won't comment any further...

What's all this shouting? We'll have no trouble here!

    Club can't win.

It gets stick for having no ambition, selling it's best players and being run like a corner shop, and now some people are saying it should remain a local shop for local people.

Has anyone considered that new owners with money may want to bring in a 'big name' manager? I hope jobs are protected after a take over.

Some of the posters on here need to get real. Small town mentality ion display in abundance. It is admirable to want to keep the local club, local manager, local owner family atmosphere but , sadly we live in the 21st century. BFC IS A business and in competition with other businesses to attract customers. It could be that if BFC do not move with the times however unpalatable that might be to some on here BFC could, once PC relinquishes the reins, go under and Oakwell may become a housing Estate or supermarket.

To those who say they would support BFC through thick and thin and even if they were in the Local League , you are doing a dis-service to Barnsley itself. Have you forgotten the buzz, the publicity and media attention (not just on the sports pages) that Barnsley received when they got into the Premiership. The same people who bemoan the fact that Barnsley youth have no opportunities are probably the same people who resist the change.

Perhaps we should buy a few dozen deckchairs and install them on the beach at Scarborough or Filey and they can try and hold back the tide a la King Canute. Makes as much sense as those who do not want BFC to be in the Premier League. iIcidentally I hate the Premier League, Sky and what it stands for and what it has done to football and other sports but looking at the bigger picture, the benefits to Barnsley and it people far outweigh the downsides. Besides, you can still display a sense of fair play and ethics whilst 'swimming with the sharks'. Being in the Premier League does not mean you have to sell-out completely nor lose that family club atmosphere. Barnsley is, after all ,Barnsley. Did anything change when we became, albeit for a very birief period, 'big time Charlies'. ?

I don't think for a second think Patrick or any of the board will hand over control to parties who won't have the clubs interests at heart. Patrick said he wanted people who would look after club and take us to the next level. So hopefully investment from U.S. by way of commercial injections of cash will help us adhere to FFP (fudge it like the rest of) to compete with wages. Maybe we'll get a super sized scoreboard, and super sized chicken balti pies.... every cloud.. every cloud

The most intrueging thing about this is, if it goes through that is, will we be able to set up a deal with Nice, like Watford have with their Italian "sister side". They have had some cracking players from there over the past few years, and the loans were a huge part of the reason that they went up....

If things continue in the current vein, there is a good chance he will be under pressure at some point.

Would be nice to see how he does with a better budget though.

I wasn't thinking of Hecky as a small time manager just because he's local. I'm hoping he gets a chance of progressing with the club should it all go through. I would think his achievements here have gone some way towards making the club an artractive prospect.

If the Cryne family gave the club to the fan base, say the supporters club, where would the money come from? When the club was in the mire financially, near the bottom of the 4th division in the 1966/7 season, they put out feelers for people to buy shares in a special issue of 40,000 £1 shares. I put my name forward to buy 1,000. The offer was not taken up, and Barnsley FC's fortunes were regenerated by a loan from two of the directors, and I wondered for years why the share issue had not gone ahead.

Years later I learnt from the late Benny Hill, that a mere £8,600 in offers had been made, and hence the issue did not proceed. This to me indicates that the people of Barnsley can not, or will not put in enough money to keep the club going.

I believe the best way of going forward,in my opinion, is through a sale which hopefully will not only be of benefit to the club but also the local community.

Could a fan's buy out really work even if the money was found? Who would actually run the club? Would every contributor expect a say? It would put the arguments on here in the shade I reckon.

'Old Hecky' isn't necessarily going to be the manager under a new regime. How much else of what makes us proud to be Barnsley supporters will be left at the end of all this. I get satisfaction out of my team achieving against the odds, while attempting to do things the right way.

Surely any new owners only have to look at Birmingham to see what bringing in a big name manager can do to a teams fortunes.

They would surely give Hecky the chance to show them his worth.

As fans we are concerned about the future , under new owners as this does not always end happily , or under an ailing PC .
The prospective owners can promise anything but the reality will be when it happens , similar (sorry about this) to a
Labour Tory manifesto , never trusted to happen .
BUT in this new age of Premier Lge 2 money and Patricks unfortunate illness then new investment is badly needed .
Hopefully these people are the answer .
In response to the earlier mention of an on site hotel /bfc social club (my input cos I miss the old club) is the
Grove Street School site still available ?

The demolition of the grove street school, the banking of the money from all the transfers of our top players and filling the squad with young cheap players, the French CEO and new foreign players is remarkably well timed for a buyout.
