That's my opinion yes it's something we are all 'guilty' of sometimes. I guess it becomes dangerous when we actually have power over things because despite being natural it creates isolationism. It's the same thing at play when you talk to some in immigrant communities who speak little English despite having been here for years, who live surrounded by people from similar ethnic backgrounds and who have created their own little enclaves. On one level I don't think this is the right approach and it gives fuel to the UKIP brigade and feels like our good natured is being exploited on another more human level it's understandable. I worked in India for a bit often not speaking English or seeing another white face for weeks at a time. It felt fantastic to take a break from this and meet up with fellow whiteys and talk in my native tongue. A complex issue not one with any straightforward solutions.
What I don't understand is that football clubs have proved they will sign anyone. Its a win at all costs world where (until forced not to by sponsors) clubs have been willing to sign rapists, they've signed people guilty of sexual assault, wife beaters, theives, drunk drivers, white men, black men, Asian men, tall men and small men, the leagues are full of foreign players of all races and skin colours. And yet these exact same clubs suddenly refuse to have black people managing them? I don't believe that for a second. Why would they be happy to have black people on their pitch representing their club, in the dugout on the bench but not in the seat next to them?
Within, I'm not sure. On the terraces I'm certain, we've a good number of loud racist bigots. I hear stuff every game in the Ponty. If I ever can identify the person responsible (not sure it's one person) then I'll point them out to a steward but will expect nothing to be done.
No, never met the guy, so I'm not sure if he's neither a conscious or subconscious racist. To be fair, if I met I'm not sure I'd be any the wiser.
I like to think of people as being good unless proved otherwise. I can't prove that he isn't a baby eating paedophile murderer but if anyone randomly asks me if he is I wouldn't dream of saying 'I'm not sure, he might be'. I'll just assume he isn't.
Not sure what your point is to be honest. The original point was that I don't know the reason Barnsley has no black coaches (following on from a previous discussion rather than being a statement in isolation), but I do observe casual racism in Oakwell pretty much every week. Not sure how that flies in the black and white (pun intended) world of SuperTyke.
