He wasn't From what I saw, he was a bit of a headless chicken. Ran around a lot but seemed to lack a lot of skill. Took his goal at Charlton well and should have been given a chance - we'll never know what he'd have turned out like.
I know who would have scored the most if he had .... ...... as many games as Odejayi, lets put it that way then!
No way Peter Sand has to be a long way ahead of him I'd have thought
£250,000 for 4 games and 2 sub appearances. Soccerbase says Kim was signed and implies no fee, but ... who knows

Put it this way, I think that if the striker from the bbs fc team had played up front ALL season clocking up over 40 hours of football then they would have got lucky at least 4 times like odejayi.
What do you expect davey to do play him regardless just to get his moneys worth. I'd much rather he got rid and saved a wage. No good bemoaning the fee now. It was a mistake plain and simple and best thing to do is get rid before it costs the club any more. is it just coincidence that it happens on the day we are reportedly signing a new player? Will more of the listed players be released as each new player is signed?
davey shouldn't have played him just to get his money's worth he SHOULD however have given him a fair crack at the whip when his other strikers were not doing the job. Instead he has stuck with odejayi in a move that cost us a LOT of points and saw attendances drop off costing the club money
RE: davey shouldn't have played him just to get his money's worth Fraid I disagree. If the rumours are true about his approach to training and everything else then in my opinion he blew his chances of being given a go simply by not putting any effort in to make the squad.
Then again, I guess we'll never know the true story, but it seems he's had problems wherever he's been, so can't quite see why people think he would've been so much better than Odejayi, especially if he did have an attitude.

he might not have been any better but he couldnt have been any worse. I think that in the situation we found ourselves in (a relegation battle) with strikers that simply weren't doing it then we had to try something else which unfortunatly (if that is the right word) meant giving him a chance to prove himself but simon davey didn't do that he stuck with odejayi for 40+ games. In the end he got lucky but it could have been very different.
RE: he might not have been any better I see what you mean, but I think in the circumstances like you say - relegation battle, maybe a drop in confidence etc - the last thing a squad needs is a disruptive presence, or seeing someone picked who puts in very little work and isn't prepared to graft when the going gets tough
Though players have said that mostto put in the least effort yet he got far more starts than christensen. He's also still at the club while christensen has been shipped out.
Maybe part of Mossto going back on loan was to try and get him to prove himself elsewhere. For all we know he may have offered Christensen the same opportunity but nothing materialised. Davey might have seen a change in attitude perhaps?
I don't know, I don't want to criticise either Davey or Christensen because I don't know the facts, but the few glimpses I caught of Kim didn't fill me with hope, and I believe there is still more to come from KO. If you were at Watford/Preston (no idea if you went or not) you would've seen how dangerous he can be

I wasnt at either of those games to be honest so no I didnt see him looking dangerous. Perhaps that is the problem. Odejayi is doing things in training that for some reason he just isnt doing at oakwell (but did in those away games) if that is the case then a period out on loan at a lower league club would do him the world of good.
To be honest (especially now we've signed another forward), I find it hard to disagree. I have seen moments where KO looks able to terrify the opposition, but I think if he was to drop a division say for 3 months, bang the goals in, he'd come back a whole new player, and everyone would surely benefit. I think he's fully aware he's under-performed in a lot of games, and clearly hasn't scored anywhere near as many goals as he wanted, and he's probably his own worse critic, but some of the abuse he's received has been very harsh in my opinion.
All this said, if he stays and plays regularly, and still doesn't get going, I hope Davey is big enough to move him on should it come to that

I expect the manager not to waste that amount of ..... ..... money, when we have very little to start with, but accepting that you can't always get it right as a manager with transfers, the very least I expect is that a player who costs £300,000 gets a few games, regardless of his alleged poor attitude in training, especially when, has been pointed out already, the guy holding the shirt for 40+ games can't hit a barn door and we are staring relegation in the face. By the way, apparently Robbie Fowler was an idle so and so in training when he was at his peak at Liverpool, but the manager didn't give a monkeys, as long as he put the ball in the net when the proper games started. I suggest Mr Davey adopts the same attitude in future, instead of being pig-headed and kicking the teddy out of the cot to prove a point of who is the boss. In my opinion, there is very little point in players running their blood to water in training on the Queens Ground every day, if they are still ***** when 3pm on a Saturday comes, but apparently Mr Davey likes that in a player and therefore picks them regardless ....... good luck with that approach SD ......... the Jobcentre is on Peel Street by the way
RE: I expect the manager not to waste that amount of ..... I think it depends on the impact it has on the squad. If Kim became very unpopular, the last thing SD would do is pick him in the first XI
I feel a little sorry for him, if davey had just dropped him when it was obvious he wasnt scoring and given him a run in the reserves then who knows what would have happened? He has been badly managed at barnsley but so have quite a few players in the last 18 months in my opinion. working from the back here are players that I feel have a genuine reason to feel aggrieved at their treatment at one time or another. muller, steele, letheren, colgan, kay, reid (possibly), kozluk, johnson, togwell, howard, ricketts, nardiello, christensen, odejayi.
I can agree in part with some of them.
Muller should have been subbed - don't think that can really be argued.
Steele - ??
Letheren - I don't think is good enough (yet?) - could do with being loaned out I think
Colgan - as far as I'm concerned I think Davey did the right thing if Colgan spat his dummy out
Kay - I'm undecided on this one, he seemed a drinker that's for sure, but most people suggest he very much wasn't the only one.
Reid - Again, tad undecided - but I think Davey realised he wasn't good enough. I don't know if Reid would have any hard feelings
Kozluk - I think was genuinely injured. If not, credit to both sides for making up.
Johnson - baffling
Howard - I think being made captain was a good move by Davey, his career and reputation has skyrocketed this season under Davey's management. He can't have too many complaints.
Ricketts - just didn't impress, seems the same problem as at Wolves - appeared unmotivated/lazy almost - had talent but didn't seem willing to put in the hard work. That said, when I saw him, I wasn't impressed.
Nardiello - he shafted us well and truly, got no concerns with how he was 'treated' considering what he did to BFC
Christensen/KO we've discussed.
Interesting to hear your thoughts on the players you named?

Muller - same as you, risking his career like that was very selfish. Steele - the way that we went about signing him in the end was unfair to him. Whether that was davey or shepherd I don't know but he wouldn't have been unreasonable to be pissed off at the time. Letheren - I don't think he is good enough either but the maangers comments about him were disgusting. Basically saying I hope we sign someone or HE wil have to play. Colgan - I was told that the reason colgan didn't train with muller before games was that he had been requested not to, not the other way round. I think that dropping him when he had done nothing wrong was very harsh, especially as this wasnt the way davey dealt with other players when new signings were made. Kay - Im firmly of the opinion that the manager wanted shut of him and so released a statement that was designed to turn fans against him, and in part it worked. For me Davey had already treated him badly when he froze him out of the squad after 'accidentally' putting kay instead of atkinson on the team sheet. I also feel that other players drank more than him but were allowed to get away with it because of who they were which is wrong in my mind. Reid - Same as you, i'm undecided. Not sure if he was treated badly or not but although I cant remember it specifically, I'm sure there was a point when we were putting players in completly the wrong position or simply not using enough defenders because of injuries rather than having to play him. Kozluk - I think that he was injured but not for the length of time that he was out, he was on the bench for months wasnt he? if he was injured why was he on the bench? Johnson - Agreed, baffling. Interestingly, under FIFA rules, Johnson could have forced the club to cancel his contract if he wanted to. Howard - This is purely based on how he has been treated this close season. Again whether this is davey or cryne is up to opinions but he hasnt been treated right in my opinon. Ricketts - He didnt seem to be given much of a chance and was dropped in favour of basically no-one. He dissappeared along with christensen and johnson with no explanation. Nardiello - He was shafted by us before he left. While pretty much every other player had been given a new contract he was left waiting and waiting with no reports of an offer. We then signed new strikers and only then did we bother to offer him a contract. Don't blame him at all for choosing to go to another club given the circumstances.
