agreed Mr NM..... and MathewWAG (typo in true tradition of the chron!) aint saying a lot either....... cover up bigtime...... has he been overclaiming the old expenses like the right dishonourable E Ilsley and his mates? super smashing lovely
He may have had a lot of problems with losing double star naps Bob you`ve got to have some sympathy, especially as it is the season of good will to ALL men.
Well it was that and a couple of things I was angling at..... lost count of the times we've sent in write ups of the events we've held, that have been totally ignored, or tucked away in a small box on page 8. It's Sport, it's different, it's generally good news, but apparently they'd prefer to cover stories such as Man a from Royston gave Lass B from from Lundwood a slap for telling him he is lazy. Man A is bound over, has to pay Lass B £30 in Argos vouchers in compensation, and cannot visit Lass B until the annual Royston/ Lundwood trip to Alton Towers next May. Lass B has to pay £30 in court fines for swearing at the judge whilst under the influence of alcohol, and for spitting at a police officer.
Fantastic, informative, and insightful read again today Matthew. As I have said in the past, I have kept a lot of old copies, and the format hadn't changed for years. The only slight alteration has been the manager's piece. Instead of Simon Davey, it changed to Mark Robins, then to King Keith. Groundbreaking. So it had grown rather stale IMO. Lets be fair, in this digital age, we fans are fed news on a daily basis. And picking up the Chron to read what you already know, had become tiresome. Wheras now we have fresh interviews with staff and players, and a reporter that reports. Rather than telling us what he thinks. Matthew is able to post his opinions on the varying online vehicles, as was Mr Lodge. And whilst I did enjoy some of Andrew's musings, I'd rather read an interview with a Bobby Hassell, Keith Hill, or even Donald Rowing. So yes, much improved. Just keep it fresh, mix it up. Fired posts a few valid points. I dont want to know about man X hitting his missus, or some chav being done for D&D. Waste of print when there are proper news stories out there, and good news at that. But that is for the new editor to deal with, not Matthew. As for Mr Lodge, whilst its not important why he has gone, I am intrigued a little. But at the end of the day, there must be reasons it hasn't been mentioned. If he was purely replaced on ability, then I am sure that would have been mentioned, considering the family name etc. Which does give me the impression that something else has gone off. Funny thing is, I checked my email yesterday, and was notified of a facebook friend request from. . . . Andrew Lodge. Yet when I tried to accept it, it said the request was no longer valid, and his facebook account was nowhere to be seen. Very bizarre... Merry Xmas to Matthew and all at the Chron
Maybe Lodge doesn't want us to know but if the paper wants to continue to not report the newstory we can only keep speculating.
I agree with what you are saying Whitey, it makes a nice change to pick up the sports pages of the chronicle and not be reading the same old regurgitated articles. As you say, the sports pages had become a rather tiresome read. I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses in the new year! Well done Matthew and the Chronicle!
