Had a 5 minute conversation with Robert carlyle at Amsterdam airport, dressed and looked exactly the same as he did on full monty. And was once having dinner at fairway dodworth and Bradley from s club 7 sat beside me, had a good chat with him and he bought me a pint.cool eh.
Watched the World Cup semi final against west Germany in llafranc in Spain with Peter Nicholas who was with Chelsea at the time. Was walking through bird well one night and Angie and i were bundled into out side the travellers by a certain mr b clough. Angie was knocked over but I was too busy helping cloughie to his feet to notice. Late 1970s.
Once served John Virgo and Steve Davis, and some random other person I didn't recognise, a Little Chef Full English Brekkie when I worked at the Little Chef on the A1 at Barnsdale bar in the Mid 80s as a student, when snooker was quite interesting and people watched it. I recall that they left **** all tip and we all moaned for the rest of the shift about how tight they were.
When I worked at currys (Donny) I had to bring an iron from the warehouse which was for David speedie, I put a dyson into the back of Paul wilkinson's car, (he was coaching at Leeds at that point) and I bubble wrapped an end of line freezer (which had been on display) for billy Pearce! No tip... He did crack a gag which wasn't remotely funny as I recall. I later worked in the bowling alley in Donny, it was SuperBowl then. The QPR first team turned up one afternoon after they had trained at Rotherham, they had a game at Grimsby that night. Ian Holloway called me a cheeky barsteward when I told him he could have one extra lane for free (having already paid a fortune) if he said he'd get no more than a point from oakwell... Also had the copper off Doctors in, the lass who played Bobs daughter in emmerdale (the one that died in a gas explosion or summat), Leslie Garrett, and my personal favourite, Dane Bowers. What a tit. He was apparently seeing a lass from Balby at the time, he came in and asked if he could have an area sectioned off because of who he was. This being quite a few years since another level had five minutes of fame, though he was on tv doing the Popstars extra thing on itv2. Megastar... Not sure anyone who wasn't working there even recognised him. Oh and Ed Miliband had a cup of tea with us at my grandads house when he was campaigning the last election. It is his constituency like.
Once over heard a conversation between whitey and bossman when they were sharing that room .....Andy does tha sleep naked arr Roy a do ...dus thar.... Arrr a do.... eerr Andy... does tha sleep on thi back when tha naked Ne'ow Roy a dunt ....Why Can ar then old love the mind boggles....lol
Ian Beale off Eastenders was my pen pal when I was 11. I once sold a swimsuit to Madge off Neighbours; and frequently spoke to John Craven, when he came in to go on the Sun Bed where I worked. I once nearly threw up over Jimmy Hill on my hangover dash across a Service Station Car Park. Oh, and one of tonight's Assistant refs came to our Wedding. I've wished him all the best for tonight....
Oh, and I once got up in the middle of the night, to find Brian McCord standing on my landing. I said hello, went to the loo, and went back to bed. Surreal.
My sister and her mate had Paul mcgugan and Mick Clarke back after a night out in whispers, I was only 11 and had monk on they'd not woke me up to say hello! Little did I know what went on in the adult world
My dog got rather too close and personal with a large German Shepherd earlier today - I apologised to the owner - only to find myself looking down at Dynamo ....
I met Take That in Tokyo Airport ...walked through the arrivals lounge with them. As the doors opened a few hundred teenage girls started screaming...I often wondered what that felt like ;-) Met a few people on planes - Elijah Wood sat next to me on a plane going to Christchurch, New Zealand once.
I once met a supposed notorious gangster from Glasgow nicknamed "the iceman" - he was a bit of a moody b*stard.
I had the pleasure of sitting down for a few pints with Mick McCarthy just after he was made Wolves manager. One of my best mate had his wedding reception at the same hotel as Mick was staying in. Mick was a top bloke and even bought me a pint.
