To some extent it's fear...if you carry cash the most you can lose is the cash in your pocket...be a victim of card fraud and you can lose a heck of a lot more. My old Mum, some years ago, was the only person I know that was physically robbed of cash but I know plenty of people who have had their card screwed over...likewise phone scams, it's massive multi billion pound business, it's a waste of time them ringing me as I don't do phone or Internet banking.

I hear your frustration, I hope you didn't take it out on the staff. I'm guessing you didn't :p

Not really, like I said, just curious to the reasons people really don't buy into what should be progress

We have a joint account but also have our own starling ones which took literally 3 mins to open. So privacy wise, all sorted there as we don't have paper statements.

Down here we only use cash if we have to pay someone, like when picking up a secondhand Gumtree purchase from someone's house. On those occasions it is difficult to find a cash machine. I suspect with the rise of PayPal payments and bank transfers even that need for cash is on the way out.

Going cashless was bad. Our club having no say in a decision that affects the fans is even worse.

Cashless isn't progress. Payment machines are always going down. It's about giving consumer the choice on how to pay.

Maybe we should roll it right back to bartering.

So entry to Oakwell will now cost the equivalent of trading 6 bags of potatoes and a Colchester stub.

    :D

How many consumers? Should they still accept cheques?

None of you card junkies help the homeless then I have to presume?

It's not always possible for a lot of people to have a bank account, which means we should keep cash no matter what.

Plus if you lose your card or have it stolen, that could mean going without the basics for a good few days if options to pay cash are taken away.

How long would it have been for a Tory government to stop benifit payments if they didn't like what showed up on the recipients card payment records?

The point you raise re domestic abuse is hugely important and can't be forgotten.

It’s all about choice though, I’m not a cash is king it’s all about control types. You have to accommodate the demographic

That's it fella. It's down to consumer choice. Want their custom? Give them more than one way to pay.

Irrelevant. “Legal tender” doesn’t equal “has to be accepted”.

Postage stamps are legal tender. As are Scottish and Irish bank notes etc.

Any business can accept or refuse any method of payment it wants.
