The average operating loss for League One was £7.0 million. While some clubs managed to generate profits, particularly through player sales, many struggled with significant financial losses.

But bear in mind some of those clubs may have mounting debts . Do we. ?

BARNSLEY FC lost £2.8million during the 2023/24 season, the club’s latest annual accounts reveal.

The statement covered a 13-month period between June 1, 2023 and June 30 2024, during which the club reports an operating loss of almost £9.7million compared to £5.9million the previous year.

24/25 most will not have released figures as yet.

I don't know what financial yrs the 2 fights may come under. A significant amount would be realised, whatever.

While the exact revenue split between Barnsley FC, the promoters (Boxxer), and other parties involved is not disclosed, it is likely that the club received a significant portion of the revenue generated from ticket sales, potentially including corporate hospitality and other related income

Players may well still leave as well, to relieve the burden on the directors pockets.
I'm not overly worried. The stadium and other facilities etc are under the ownership of the council as well.

 

March will show the accounts to the 2025 year end (June/ July whatever it is now). We won’t see impact of releasing so many ahead of this season until March 2027.
