Re: It is really, mate 12 in 17 in the league, plus another 3 in the League Cup. Just checked it in my old Rothman's Yearbook.
We've struggled to even get anyone to get 10 league goals since we came up Howard 13 bogdanovich 11 Davies 11 Vaz Te 10 I think that's it.
We have had at least two strikers who were well on their way to 20 goals before we sold them though. Ashley Ward would have comfortably made 20 and wasn't Geddis well on the way to 20 too?
You're right there and possibly Vaz Te but I can't believe it's over 50 years since anyone actually did.
Sorry, I hadn't realised that those two had already been mentioned, because I hadn't noticed there was a page 2! But it does make me laugh when we keep hearing calls for a 20 goals per season striker, when we have only had a handful of those in our lifetimes! I remember being really excited when we signed David Currie, because we had signed someone who had already scored so many goals that season for Darlington.
No he got the closest 19 in the League and 2 in the play offs which aren't counted as part of your league total.
To be fair there was plenty to be excited about Currie was amazing those first two seasons. At this level it's even less than a handful I suspect it's zero 20 goal strikers in most of our lifetimes so yes it always makes me laugh when people are clamouring for this. If there's any chance of us staying up O'Grady needs to get pretty close this season.
I think if we looked at the history of our goal-scoring midfielders, we are actually quite prolific on that front? The goals must have come from somewhere? Though don't hold me to that, you lot with the BFC history books.
