Oldham v Watford about 1978/79

had a few beers in Manc and my mate, Watford fan, said let's all go to Oldham to see the game. Few more beers in Oldham then off to the match. Got to well below freezing, December or January, and I really wished I'd have put more than a t-shirt on. Took about 2 weeks to defrost.

    that Watford game....

...was one of the worst ever, ever, ever, even including the Hodges regime. I seem to remember being even colder at Gary Fleming's testimonial though, which was pretty weird considering it was in May.....

A Tuesday night game v Notts County

finished 0-0, about 4 thousand there, one of a few times that traitorous thought 'why do i bother?' crept into my head...

    Southend away December 1992

Freezing cold, hammering it down and we pay for the privilidge of standing on an open terrace while Southend make a big deal about how the kids in the covered stand to our right have been admitted free.

Stan Collymore hattrick, we lose 3-0 (and were lucky to get nil).

    Merry Christmas

Birmingham at home a few weeks later wasn't too clever either, freezing cold torrential rain but did we move from the corner between the West stand & the ponty? Did we hell!

RE: A Tuesday night game v Notts County

I remember that one, it was the first time we had been in the newly opened East Stand. Bored stiff, shiverin' like a shiteing dog, sat in an empty concrete wasteland, longing for the good old days - spending the second half in the social club behind the Ponty.

When we played Gothenburg in a friendly.

I'd driven down from Scotland for the match, and had to drive back after it. Must have been daft.

    QPR Away 80/81

Most of League program postponed because of Siberian weather, this match went ahead because of QPR's plastic pitch, half of which was white with frost. It was so cold that the heater in my car wouldn't defrost any of the windows except the windscreen - ok it was a Hillman Avenger.........

    I would agree with that

In the Machin days- not sure if Ericsson was in charge of the Swedes at that time- but it was freezing. It always seemed cold at Boundary Park too.

Aye and we got to sit in the top tier .....

.... cos they had shovelled all the snow into the bottom tier! I was there, lost 1.0, a header bounced up off the **** new astroturf over our goalies head (Bobby Horn?)... and we were on match of the day cos there was only about 4 games played that day, remember it well!!
